And yes, that can be frustrating, as "jargon" means specific things to those who require specificity in their work...but insisting on the same specificity from everyone just ends up not working. I gave up on "hacker" a long time ago; now it's just part of a code switch.

@pockets I tend to lean into doing CWs rather than not if there's any question about it because the "cost" associated with using them is extremely low; if you want to see it, you click one extra time. So as long as you're interested, you can see what's going on. As far as what content merits that, I try to treat it as maybe a slightly more intimate setting than just being in public with strangers...say, the same as a cocktail party. So, if I wouldn't bring it up at a standard I-don't-necessarily-know-all-these-people cocktail party, but I want to discuss it here, then I use a CW.

@bonfire@indieweb.social First I've heard of this project, and I hope you don't mind if I ask a few (really basic) questions about it to see if it's right for me. Is this based on ActivityPub? Does it incorporate existing applications as a sort of aggregator, or it is a new and separate platform?

@integerpoet @dedicto Their jobs actually don't yet rely on those things, because of the two-party system; they only need to not be Republicans, which is easier now because you simply don't have to be an overt fascist.

@dedicto I'm sorry to say this, but I believe we should pump the brakes on this mode of thinking for a little while. Fascists do not necessarily rely on electoral politics for power. While this is a clear repudiation of Orban and fascism generally in Hungary and Europe, it doesn't mean that they will not try to exert power by other means. This is a point of evidence in favor of voting our way out of fascism...but it is not yet "the answer".
