At a wild guess,* the poet may simply be playing with the common juxtaposition of /dīn/ (faith, religion) and /dunyā/ (world), similar-sounding words with contrasting meanings.

Substantivet «ski» var allerede brukt på engelsk (verbet fant de opp senere), men var neppe vanlig. Oppslagsordet «ski» mangler ennå en generasjon senere i Imperial Dictionary of the English Language (London 1883). Den kjenner begrepet ski, men kaller det «snow-skate».
