Making use of a resource more profitable increases the return on investment of exploiting that resource.
So increased systems efficiency *increases*, not decreases, resource use.
Unless your approach is to have a fixed expectation for capability and just optimize for lower and lower resource use to achieve that capability. Which is not how capitalism works, at all.

@ami_angelwings@urusai.social Programming hot take: dependencies are almost always a bad thing. Languages shouldn't provide a package manager, they should provide a standard library that covers 99% of use cases.
So that for any project you either get away with pulling in nothing at all or just one or two things, which makes it viable to include their source into the project and maintain it as a component.
And then for small stuff you can just reinvent the wheel, it's more fun anyways.

I am aware that as a young man, old women can feel very vulnerable next to me, and to make someone feel unsafe by my actions would bring me immense shame, so I get on my absolute best behaviour when I'm interacting with elderly women.

Education, healthcare, infrastructure is for the people, so they will do the least they can get away with.
Military and law enforcement is for the government, so they will do the most they can get away with.
What they can get away with is decided entirely by the people.

I'm not particularly inclined to trust that, but I don't have to, because duckduckgo lets you use its services through Tor without pestering you with captchas.
