Has anyone here been vaccinated against Shingles with the (fairly new) Shingrix vaccine?
Interested to hear about your experience.

To whom is the fine payable and what are the chances of it actually being paid?
Mind you, it's pocket change for Ali, anyway.

You could arrange them all in a circle around a brazier and make a sign that says "Keep the gnomefires burning".
Just renewed my Irish passport card online. The passport itself is good for another 5 years but for some reason passport cards only last 5 years, rather than 10.
I was bracing myself for the ordeal as these things are usually frustrating from start to finish.
But, no. First picture I took was accepted without issue, lots of details to enter, but all fine. Paid my €35. All done. Still a couple of gulps of coffee left.

One of the stories I studied for English Literature at school, rather a long time ago.
Part of an anthology inspiringly entitled "Twentieth-century Short Stories", which I bought and re-read recently.

They can't take land and buildings with them.
So they either continue to own (and pay taxes on) them or they sell them and the new owner pays taxes on them.

Did I miss the bit about making the 500 character posting limit changeable in the admin console?

In addition to the other (very good) advice you've received, obviously the usual personal protection (unfortunately) applies. A loud rape alarm and/or pepper spray may not stop someone but it could draw enough attention or buy you time to get away.
I feel so sick and sad even writing this and I'm a cis man ☹️

Mainly send messages like "testing" and "is anyone out there?".
Is https://meshmap.net/ not working at the moment? The map comes up OK but I see very few nodes (and those were last updated over 7 hours ago)?

So pleased to hear that development is continuing. Still using Trunks here.

Consider installing Obtainium (available from @fdroidorg@floss.social).
It allows you to grab releases directly from Git, Codeberg, or whatever as soon as they are posted.
There's a bit of a learning curve, but templates for the more "fiddly" apps can be found on https://apps.obtainium.imranr.dev/
Having said that, I'm not sure if you can get Conversations via that route. I use Monocles, which is a fork.

And there's no point on fedi, anyway, as all URLs take up the same number of characters, irrespective of length.

https://www.seeedstudio.com/ and https://hexaspot.com/ have some solar-powered options.
For a handheld, a good starter is a Heltec V3 with a 3D printed case. Be careful, though, if you're buying a kit of parts, that the battery will fit into the case.

Many thanks for those links. They answer all my questions. It also explains why one node not so far from me is set to 869.000 MHz rather than 869.618 MHz.

I would suggest starting at https://meshmap.net/ to see what other nodes are around. Of course they won't all be listed.
Install the Meshtastic app on your phone, tablet or computer. Check that your device has the latest firmware version.
Then configure it.
https://meshtastic.org/ has detailed instructions.

In that case I'd be inclined to start with #Meshcore and explore #Meshtastic later, if you feel motivated to do so.

Their accounts won't cease to exist after 72 hours, they simply won't be able to communicate with people on the fosstodon.org instance. I suspect that a number of other instances have already defederated them or will do so in the near future.
People on that instance will be able to migrate their accounts for as long as it continues running. Of course there's no knowing how long that will be.

Ah, but they have "no evidence" that it's going to Russia, other than the fact that the company is owned by a Russian oligarch (which might vaguely, possibly, kinda suggest ... no, surely not).

How does the ad hoc "Enable Repeat Mode" on a #Meshcore companion device work? Not sure how that fits into the dedicated roles thing.
Does it act as a fully functioning repeater AND companion device (like Meshtastic)?

Yeah, even that is an hour or two out of date and missing one of my nodes. I wonder if the problem is with mqtt.meshtastic.org as I presume both maps take their feed from that.

I agree that 7k is unrealistic but there may be some merit to the argument that it could have been built for significantly less.
