I dabble. Mostly in trains - H0 scale and live steam. Sometimes in games. Professionally in tech. German living on Yuggera land in Australia. I post and repost in English and German. Trans rights are human rights.

This lovely creature departed this world today.
She had the DNA of three working dog breeds. Survivor of snake bites and chewed-through electric cables. She was just shy of her twelfth birthday.
Rest in peace, Jasmine.
After the devastating Farrer by-election loss, Jane Hume is asked whether a future Coalition would include One Nation.
Her answer: "It is an impossible question to answer."
No it's not. There is absolutely nothing impossible about saying "no" when asked if you'll collaborate with fascists. Saying "It's impossible to answer" means two things:
- You're not opposed to the idea
- You're keeping your options open so you don't have to backflip later
I'm calling it now: someone in the Liberal Party will publicly and noisily float that idea before the end of the year, and they will not get shot down.
So, Inland Rail is done now.
I would have liked to see a properly conceived, designed and implemented version of this. But the way it was actually going to come about, with zero community consultation, bonkers decision-making and largely adverse impacts on the rural towns, it's probably better left alone.
This is top tier bullshit. Both the fact that the leader of a fascist party is being gifted a private plane by Australia's richest mining magnate, and how the need for a private plane is justified: politicians don't want to be bothered by members of the public when traveling.
@mschfr@mastodon.social @masek@infosec.exchange I worked in a company like that. We called it 'waterfall with stand-ups'.
I normally wouldn't comment on this kind of stuff, but this quote from currently erstwhile Sydney shock jock and consistently all-round piece of shit Kyle Sandilands is just too precious.
"I just want to get back to work. I’ve got a family, I’ve got mortgages to pay, like everyone else."
Mortgage*s* to pay. Note the plural.
The man is on a cool 7+ million base salary just for being a dickhead on radio. Several advertising and licensing deals put him considerably north of 10. If I was on that kind of money, I wouldn't take out fucking mortgages - I'd pay cash.
"I have mortgage*s* to pay, like everyone else." I suppose being this far out of touch comes with the territory when you're worth hundreds of millions. Sure, everyone owns a bunch of investment properties that they're trying to wring maximum profit out of, at the cost of everyone else.
Fucking piece of shit.

If there is one thing I loathe with every fibre of my being, it's broadcast radio.
As of yesterday, the workers on the construction site across from my rental have taken to carrying a portable radio with them. It's loud enough that I can hear it through my closed windows at 30m distance. If I open my windows, I can clearly hear what the talking heads are saying.
This is NOT helping me get through my day.
The wealthy are no longer merely saying "Fuck you, I've got mine".
They're saying "Fuck you, I've got mine, but I want more, so I will get more, and if that means you can't get yours, fuck you even more."
RE: @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social
I love Firefly. I love Serenity. I rewatch both every few years despite Whedon and Baldwin. And this goes to show, because normally I would ban people like that and their output from my consumption.
But this? I could not be less enthusiastic about this if I actually tried. Animated, set between the show and the movie? Not a draw for me, in several aspects. Those gaps have been filled by the comics, not always in the greatest fashion but satisfyingly enough that there's no new ground to be trod there.
In all honesty, a "20 years later" live action sequel with the remaining crew, clearly older and perhaps a bit wiser, would have been more appealing to me. Especially if they'd had gotten rid of Jayne's character.
Fuck me, they really elected Matt Canavan as Nats leader?
What the actual fucking fuck? What the fuck are the collective members of that party thinking? Are they *trying* to make themselves completely irrelevant?
