New art: Overslept

I started this while we still had a lot of snow this winter. The long time it took me to finish and the subject both reflect my mental and physical state lately; tired af. 😅

Digital painting made in #krita

---
Sorry for lack of art lately, my creativity and arm strength (needed for drawing) have taken a dive, but I'm slowly chugging along through illness (Graves disease) and under-researched medical treatments. And tbh, the state of the world.

Commute sketching made me miss my stop, but it was ok bc there was a nice and eerie fog out so I got to feel like a proper cryptid.

@xenophora Thank you so much! The light was a real struggle honestly. I went for a much lighter background at first, coudn't get it to work until I in frustration just threw in a bunch of greyish green behind the bear and suddenly the contrast clicked 😁

Wip stages of above painting. Sorry for increasingly worse light (hence waiting until today for daylight photos).

@jussi_og@mementomori.social what! I was actually trying to find that image when researching references for this, but couldn't remember the title. Wild that it came through anyway somehow! I'm very glad you mentioned it, thank you. :D

@Jorsh@beige.party Honestly, the wisdom of adults is sometimes only well-trodden prejudice, and it takes a child to see through it. Thanks for that take!

Replying to

@pixelworship Yeah no I think you're absolutely right. No art exists in a vacuum, and all great works are created with the specific conditions of era in which they're made. Our circumstances may be especially annoying, but they're what we've got I guess, and people will keep on arting. Eventually we can look back on this time and the impact everything had on the art world, just as any other time. As long as we're still here.

Replying to

@thematic yeah, and providing the AI bubble doesn't burst before it's good enough, any digital proof of any process could be falsified. (Frankly so could any physical object too with sophisticated enough technology but let's not get ahead of ourself).

@lahita thank you, that means a lot ❤ And yeah... As sick as the world seems, enough people are being appaled by it that there's a tiny bit hope for a better future, at least 🫂
