Birds in my area don't seems to hate bike helmets at all. I've spent years commuting to work along bike paths here and not been swooped once by a magpie. Or ever seen them have a go at any of the other hundreds of cyclists wearing helmets. They just mind their own business.
Be interesting to find out exactly why that's different region to region. Don't suppose we will though.

@alice I was reading something about how the "great firewall of China" operates the other day. They don't block criticism of the government, they block anything that starts to mobilise people to action or cause any sort of community sentiment. The article closed with a question of the was this sort of censorship in the west that we don't know about.
I am pondering if this sort of reply guy thing is acting in a similar way to Chinese censorship. That is, squashing community movement before it starts. I also wonder if this is an organised squashing or purely self inflicted by society by accident (but still being leveraged by those with power for sure).

The assertion that you can use AI to get ahead has a very strong cognitive dissonance for me: AI (as the term is mostly used these days) is a mathematical model that literally gives you a probabal average-ish output. You don't get ahead with average output...

One thing they do on bassoons sometimes (Yamaha in particular) is fake some nice straight grain lines with scotch marks. No idea if that's what might have been done on the guitar or not, the effect is reasonably convincing and I couldn't tell the difference on a picture like that.

I do not know guitars. The finish does look a lot like most bassoons that are made from what is known as either "mountain maple" or "curly maple" i get the impression this is the same tree with different names, but I'm not sure.

Yes. Musicians ear plugs.
Surprisingly, the trick is to have them very deep. This means they need to be custom made. You need to go to an audiologist and have them made from a mold of your ear that the audiologist can make.
They are not cheap!
Made for singers and the like. Had some many years ago. They stop fitting after a number of years as your ear changes shape.

You have problems with them? The magpies around my way seem to completely ignore cyclists at all times.
The ducks on the other hand, stately enough, really have a go sometimes. They are rather inept but they try hard.

Someone, I think at Latrobe university, did some interesting research on magpies. They found that they certainly did communicate with other birds about potential dangers. It involving hassling the birds while wearing these silly masks. Anyone wearing those masks in the area now gets instantly attacked by any magpies around, but everyone else gets left alone.
There is an opinion in the house that an 8 year old wouldn't/couldn't do this colour thing on purpose to be insulting. I'm not so sure.

Reminds me of reading some nonsense where it was argued the existence of universal morals proved the existence of god. I can't see morals being universal, but this is starting to tell me why some people might be able to see it that way (very self fulfilling in the most mindless way).
