I've been working on the biggest project of my career for the past year and a half. Tomorrow's milestone, which we are on track to achieve this afternoon, is pretty huge. And there will be more milestones still over the next few months.
Skydiving in a couple of weeks! I can't fucking wait. Life excites me.

Home is the South Coast of Australia. I mainly toot photos of animals and nature, but am also partial to literature, science, bad jokes, pithy quips, philosophy, and ramblings. I work for the guv'ment, so if that's not your jam then this isn't the place for you. I love my work as well as my personal life.
Toots self-destruct after one week.

I'm easily the coolest person in the Woolworths on Friday night.
Of course, I should mention that the only other people here are a pair of meth addicts putting ice cream snacks in their pants.

Since abandoning the magnesium glycinate tablets for the disgusting unflavoured powder, I've been consistently enjoying between 7-9 hours of unbroken sleep. I don't even care if this is a placebo effect; you'll have to pry this stuff from my cold, dead (but well-rested) hands.
Good morning from Wollongong, everybody, and welcome to Tuesday!

Someone planted the idea of Western Australia in my head, and now I can't stop thinking about it. It would be a really tricky move, though, and not because of the distance. I would have to love it as much as I love the Illawarra and Shoalhaven (I suspect I would), and I would have to basically get the same job I have now at the same level and work with people who are just as terrific. That's the tricky part.
I have to love my job and be proud of what I do. People often say it's just a job, but I think that's a load of bollocks. It's the sort of thing I used to tell myself to cope with a job I hated.
Anyway, good morning to all and welcome to Monday. 🌞

Perth people! What are the best beach suburbs that are on the train line to the city and aren't too terrible of a commute? Hour and a half max commute is ok, as that's what I do now on office days, but a shorter one would be even better. I'm not willing to drive to work every time because that's a pain in the arse and bad for the environment, etc.
Thanks for your opinions! Just in the information gathering stage of this investigation 🤠

I recently read an article on pseudolaw by Dr Hobbs after hearing his talk, and came across a reference to this mayor's response to a nutjob sovereign citizen. I looked up the actual correspondence, and it's fucking gold.
I've seen plenty of brusque correspondence from mayors and the like in the course of my work, but this is by far my favourite. If it's difficult to read, the alt text might make it easier.

This place is unreal. I wish I could afford to buy a place here, though even if I could the commute would be too much.
But maybe this place IS otherworldly, and I actually went through some invisible portal into another realm on the ride down.
Whatever it is, this is fucking outstanding.

@Wallflower@beige.party It’s so draining. I like seeing everyone but recently I have been leaving at lunchtime on office days and wfh the rest of the day. It's working well! Can you do something like that? Or are you in the office full-time? 😱

Just read about some of my work in a news outlet, which is extremely gratifying. Of course my name wasn't included in the article for privacy reasons, but I know it was me and that's good enough 😊

We wait so many hours for this romantic serving of evening, and people will blast it all to smithereens with their most obnoxious manifestations of ennui.
I prefer to stick to the quieter places of the world (i.e., where the people are few).

I wanted to catch the sunset during my evening bike ride, but missed out because I was working too late.
On the bright side, I did catch some twilight action.

We're just in time for @Nickiquote@mstdn.social's belated birthday today! No owls, I'm afraid, but I did encounter this rather derpy deer and her fawn. Hope this'll do in a pinch.
Now if everyone can please join in for a public and humiliating round of 'Happy birthday!" I'm elbows deep in these hearings, however, so I'm afraid I will have to love you and leave you for now. 😚

I deleted a bunch of follow requests just now, so I should probably mention that if you haven't interacted with me and tend to use other people here as mere fodder, then don't bother sending me a request. I'll just make a paper airplane out of it and toss it over my balcony.
Good morning from Wollongong, everybody.

@cobalt123@beige.party They take passengers out to the open sea for an hour and a half or so in Shellharbour, just south of where I live. With the season pass (May-Sept), I have unlimited cruises! Otherwise it's like $80 per cruise.

I have the next 8 days off work, and am deciding between the Blue Mountains and Jervis Bay.
BM - colder but rugged and beautiful mountain scenery and waterfalls
JB - Beautiful white sand beaches, warmer, whale watching, kangaroos!!
Which would you pick? Bear in mind it's winter here, but without snow.
Third option: One-way ticket to the South of France

As someone who works in a big city (when I can be bothered going to the office) and spends lunch powerwalking through the canyons of commerce, the awfulness and repetition of popular music nearly drives me to psychosis. I have great compassion for those who have to endure this at retail wages; it's a special kind of torture.
I keep my sanity by reminding myself of all the beautiful and original music there is in the world.

Sometimes when I encounter parrots, I think of that video clip of Iggy Pop singing "Surfin' Bird" to his pet cockatoo and I'm inspired to do the same. I haven't done it yet, but it's really only a matter of time.
