Well these were the easiest inserts I’ve fitted. Like a 10 minute job. They don’t have the structure of a Rimpact or Cushcore-type but ought to help. I am kinda left thinking that I could just have cut strips from a sleeping mat though. 🤷‍♂️ #cycling

@mmiasma@mastodon.sdf.org Kinda similar, an old guy in a museum in Wisconsin once told me ‘the difference between you [Brits] and us is that we think a hundred years is a long time whereas you think a hundred miles is a long way’. I always liked that.

Perhaps #TMI but it may give someone else strength: A big day today. I’m moving out on separating with K after 30+ years together and 20 years married. Amicably, and we each know it’s the right thing to do. Mentally and emotionally we split up years ago, but now practically too.
It’s never too late to take a positive step and make a fresh start. Look forward with hope, not backwards with regret.
❤️✌️😊

I knew it’d wind me up so don’t know why I ever clicked on it, so am not gonna link to it either, but the latest Grauniad buyers guide includes a ‘best stove for wild campers’ that uses charcoal briquettes. And weighs 6kg. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social A4 #BikeNite Yes, just using a soft, as opposed to hardshell, bike bag (an Evoc one). That rolls up when not in use so is perhaps easier to store at the other end while you're off riding. I'm not sure a Brommie would fit within many carriers overhead bin size restrictions, but happy to be proved wrong. And is it worth it? Depends how much you want or need _your_ bike at the destination.

@ascentale@sfba.social @edd@freeradical.zone @bikenite@fedigroups.social A4 #BikeNite It depends sometimes on where and what terrain I’m riding but usually nothing different from a shorter ride kit-wise. If I’m heading into the wilds I’ll look to make myself as self-sufficient as possible with enough calories to see me through and be more prepared for any changes in the weather with layers and/or waterproofs.

With the election results overnight and this morning I'm reminded once again that all this is fake. You're alright, you lot: That's why I follow you. Even back on Xitter I'd managed to curate my feed so as to live in blissful ignorance of too many's true feelings and intentions. But then just like the Brexit vote, the 2017 GE, and the 'green wave' now, every so often reality smacks you down.
✊🏼️ Go punch a nazi.

@Documentally@mastodon.social I have an account using a burner number/PAYG sim so use that when there’s no practical alternative for comms and I don’t give meta access to my contacts. Too many events and orgs are wed to using it these days to do fully without. I don’t use it for family, although have friends made through the aforementioned groups where it does now get used, albeit only by faux-me.

@Fishd@infosec.exchange It all kinda went to shit when they were taken over by Halewood, subsequently laying off most their staff including the brewers themselves (rumour is they had to take some back on as nobody left knew the recipes). Anyway they closed up shop there blaming parking charges and moved out. They then sat on the lease which they could have done for another 20 years, until the Millyard owner apparently forced their hand to release it as he wanted a pub on site. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn7l0585v11o

@Fishd@infosec.exchange The new place has some good beers on (no Hawkshead, obv!) and More and Wilf's each still seem to be doing ok but are undeniably quieter. I don't think so many folk park there to go off and ride/walk as used to. The Mill Yard used to be used as a park and ride place for those with free bus passes to get to Windermere. I can see why that pissed off the yard owner and the businesses there too.
