I live in Medway, Kent. Family, cycling, music, taking pictures and learning what and when I can occupy most of my time. Curious and open-minded. Working in mental health and social care. Happy to be here. Greetings to all.
Out yesterday on the helpers ride route checking for next week's Oasts and Coasts 300 National.
Good company. Fine weather. Challenging route in places.
Rye to Hythe via Romney Marsh fills me with dread but to be fair it was not too bad yesterday. Nearly always against the wind for 40k on this stretch. Not so yesterday.
Same goes for Birchington to Reculver, Whitstable to Graveney and the long insidious climb up to the top of Hollingbourne Hill through Newnham, Doddington and Ringlestone.
Riding with seasoned audaxers made all the difference. I pushed myself much more than I do on a DiY. Stayed with it though, took my turn at the front and never got dropped.
A good day out on the bike.
Today, after 11 years with #ubuntu I've taken the leap and switched to #debian.
It was a few things. Been thinking about it for a while. Increasing RAM requirement for 26.04 (I know it will run on less), enterprise partnership with MS, the planned integration of AI (however thoughtful it may be).
I lost trust.
One lap top so far and not the daily driver. Getting familiar with it first before I do that.
Good opportunity to improve my partition strategy. I never actually had one before so that's something.
Settled on KDE Plasma DE.
So far so good. Finding my way round. Up and running. Nothing lost. Favourite apps being installed. All good. No complaints.
A few words and pictures about riding and helping out a bit in this years Oasts and Coasts 300 km audax.
Helping out this morning at the start of today's AUK's Oasts and Coasts 300km randonnée.

Good morning from the whale and other smaller sea creatures perched on top of the post box in Higham village. #postboxtopper
#postboxtopper in Shorne village. Atop a postbox of the future no less. All acts of rebellion are valid.
I love a postbox topper. A post box I pass by on a regular basis nearly always has one on top. This may be the last of it’s kind on this one -

I call out "bike behind" and add where it seems helpful "on your left" or "on your right" depending on where the most space is. I have found that's been generally well received.
Your Name in Landsat. It got me thinking about route planning. If you joined the letters up in a straight line you'd have about 80,000 km to ride. Bit tricky in places. Maybe too much to cycle on a whim but for future reference...
Are you just a system prompt? Mostly not...
Bit of a niche giveaway. I have a gift code which gives access to the tier GOTOES | Strava Tools Standard, and will expire on May 24, 2026 if it isn’t redeemed by then.
If this is of any use to you let me know and I'll PM the link to redeem it.

"This song reflects the ruthless impact the world leaders are having on the world, our communities, and future. We have to help one another to survive."
