'Ah!' said the Eldest Magician. 'Now I know who has been playing with the Sea;' and he called out, 'What are you doing, Pau Amma?'
And Pau Amma, deep down below, answered, 'Once a day and once a night I go out to look for my food. Once a day and once a night I return. Leave me alone.'

@evan@cosocial.ca If they *blocked* me (meaning I would be able to tell, unlike for muting or ghosting me) on one platform *only* and *they know I'm on other platforms and I know their identity there*, that blocking may have been unintended, unless events prior to blocking indicate otherwise. In that case, and because I believe in clarity of communication, I might want to check, with the understanding that *not* blocking me on that other platform might have been unintended instead.

@pathunstrom Thanks for this, and for the screenshot alt text. While on the latter point, you have a typo there: "p3pa" should be "p4pa".

@Danpiker@mathstodon.xyz Interesting, thanks. It kinda worked for me once I removed my specs and leaned in, but for a whole row of 3 at a time. The row I'm staring at turns gets a distinctly bluer tinge than the other 2.

"Imperfect captions are much better than no caption."
I'd qualify that. Better, maybe. Much better, I doubt it, especially if they're imperfect because not human-made or human-reviewed. Even occasional failures to "wreck a nice beach" accurately can break the flow of reading and cause losing track of the thread of discourse.

@m@lgbtqia.space @MastodonEngineering@mastodon.social The suggestion in your last paragraph would make signing up hard to impossible for users with visual disabilities or motor disabilities, while (as someone else mentioned) being of dubious usefulness against subscription spam. Please keep #accessibility #a11y in mind when suggesting solutions.

The Irish Presidency of the EU has proposed member states to allow AI companies unfettered access to the data of EU citizens.
According to leaked docs, the proposal would effectively exempt AI companies from any of the GDPR rules and deny EU citizens data protection rights
