Protip: When trying to track down a kernel problem, make sure you're actually running the kernel you expect *before* spending hours investigating results that don't make sense.

@civodul This list is poorly curated. FreeBSD was included with a link to a commit I authored (without LLM use) as "evidence", because a report submitted to the security team made use of an LLM. It currently links to https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src?tab=contributing-ov-file#quality-expectations as evidence of a permissive AI policy.

@anthill@mstdn.ca @sean@scoat.es Active Surplus was great in the 80s and 90s, occupying a large amount of street-level space. I guess the downsizing and move upstairs happened in the early 2000s. Supremetronic used to be a few doors down from Active Surplus on Queen Street. You can still see their sign in older Google Streetview imagery.

@TomAoki@mastodon.bsd.cafe @fosdembsd@mastodon.bsd.cafe @mwl@io.mwl.io Yeah, it started as a port from OpenBSD in 2017, fixing warnings and adding Capsicum. Then a bunch of fixes and new functionality over the years, finally fixing the last few issues and enabling it by default this year.

What are the chances someone has a PowerMac G5 and wants to test a #FreeBSD patch https://reviews.freebsd.org/D47167

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Ooh, good point. For my poll I'm going to say it does; for stock FreeBSD that's how we'll use it today.

@gumnos@mastodon.bsd.cafe The original RPi is armv6, which is no longer supported as of FreeBSD 15. RPi 2 is armv7 and still supported. RPi 3 and later is 64 bit.
