Tortuga who turns 15 in August is giving me her salty look. She wants to sit on Ian but he's using his computer. Ian is her favorite person.
I've seen lots of photos of Mt Fuji rising majestically over convenience stores in Japan. Here is Mt Shasta doing similar.

Kelly had his annual check up. He cried all the way there. All the time there. All the way home. He's perfectly healthy. Weighs 13.6 pounds (6.2 kg).

Outside of Le Paradis in Hayward is a tiny garden always growing riotous colors. So many different flowers, and fruit bearing trees in a space the size a couple parking spots.

One of piece of learning how to pronounce Welsh words is the ll. It's not the how to make the sound, it's how often that letter is described to non Welsh people and I say this as a Californian where both the Welsh ll and the Spanish ll live side by side...

The Someday Garden by Ashley Poston (2026) is a Secret Garden romance with a time travel twist. Sophie Drear is working for a summer to revitalize the gardens of Lilymoor House in Maine — a garden that at one point was on a par with Butchart Gardens. The last time she was here it was with her BFF Harrie who has since died too early because of cancer. Now she finds herself falling in love with a man who is stuck in a garden she can't find except at certain hours of the day.

@CorvidCrone@kolektiva.social Yesterday I complimented a woman on her beautiful cane. It was done up in all sorts of spring colors, an abstract floral pattern that also somehow had 1990s vibe to it. I have never seen one as cool as hers before. (My personal cane is black and rather ordinary)

The Fatal Lozenge by Edward Gorey (1960) reads like the prototype of the Gashlycrumb Tinies (1963). Like its more famous cousin, this book is a Gothic exploration of the alphabet, but with adults.

@alice@lgbtqia.space All except the top one. At least among gays my own age I am too boring so they always think I'm straight. Even if I've told them, they forget. Among queer people my daughters' ages, they don't seem to have this problem.
The number of times I've been lectured by another bi person about what it means to be bi is more than I care to count.

Snake-Eater by T. Kingfisher (2025) is Gothic desert horror set in a fictional Quartz Creek that is somewhere in the liminal space that is Four Corners adjacent. Selena arrives by train with her dog, her meager possessions and about $22 dollars to her name. She's come to stay with her aunt, only to learn that her aunt passed away the year before.

Lunar New Year Love Story by Gene Luen Yang and LeUyen Pham (Illustrator) (2024) is a YA love story centered on lion dancing with an Oakland setting and a lowkey Crazy Rich Asians vibe. Valentina Tran was named for Valentine's Day and until recently it was her favorite holiday. Now she believes she's cursed in love but a Valentine's heart given to her by a lion dancer has given her heart one last hopefully zing.
