Wow. So. If you own a LG computer monitor and run Windows 11, get ready for ads. And possibly malware. This is without consent. If you own a recent LG TV, you are required to choose security or privacy. If you choose security, the new terms of service require you to inform household members and guests that your TV is listening to everything. It also informs you it’s screen capturing and collecting a ton of data. Glad I ditched my old LG TV. Might have to ditch my LG soundbar.

Ok I'll stop for now, but first: Take a look at chicken and beef broth you can buy at the store. In the ingredients for most, you'll find some form of garlic and/or onion. Now go find some broth in the pet section. Notice they're absent. This isn't because it's not palatable to dogs. They're making dog-safe broth.

Oh shit... I just noticed an "autoship" link. They sell products. 2 of their supplements contain garlic powder, which has higher concentrations of the toxins that makes garlic toxic to dogs. They have food "base mixes" that contain garlic powder. They are trying to harm dogs.

I decided to see what other bullshit is on this site. "6 signs your dog might be allergic to dog food" I thought maybe this might just be weird phrasing. But... yeah, article is AI generated. There's a ton of inconsistencies in formatting and information. It's very difficult to follow. Another article covers "natural" flea and tick prevention. It pushes garlic into their diet. Sweet jesus for the safety of your dog don't fucking feed your dog garlic. They also offer an essential oil spray with 4 ingredients. Citronella is probably not harmful, but dogs fucking hate the smell. They avoid it. Want to stress your dog? Cover them in this. It also notes tea tree oil and peppermint oil. Both of these are skin irritants to dogs. I'm not sure to what degree peppermint oil is, but if you've ever used tea tree oil products, such as a shampoo (something I enjoy), and felt how it feels, this is amplified on dogs' skin. It's causing chemical burns.

So you know that $35 insulin thing? Before we pushed back on insurance to figure out how I can get the coverage I was owed, this is what was sent to me. That's 3 vials. 1 month. Insulin in the US is still NOT $35/mo, $35/vial, whatever measure you want to use to place $35 on it in many cases. Probably most cases. (It's $35/mo on medicare, and maybe medicare advantage if your private insurer isn't a dick) And this is why you hear about rationing insulin in the US.

I'm in the hospital cafe while my sister is at her weekly therapy appointment in the next building over. It takes a couple of hours so I hang out here because there's no capitalist expectations here. And the wifi is actually good.

Just heard a "code pink" called a little bit ago, and then an all clear a few minutes later.

Confirmed that, here, that's infant abduction/missing. They lock down the hospital until the "all clear".

AI datacenters and power companies powering them are planning to start using eminent domain to start stealing land from homeowners. Don't believe the water problems? It's interesting to see this fire up because I recall running into their website and I was like "wait, they think they're some magnanimous fediverse org providing service?" I did block that one account that seemed to represent themself in some way as an operator of the "service" today.

Sam has been eating better today, but still not 100%.

Yesterday, I gave her a walk around the block. The heat was enough that she prioritized cooling off over getting water and parked herself near the intake vent for my hvac for the cool breeze.

So I'm going back to the no walks over 95F rule, especially as she's not super well.

@LeslieBurns@esq.social It's already bad enough that as you navigate the document and initial and sign places, it skips to the next field, skipping over all of the document pieces in between, discouraging actually reading it. I've taken to not touching any field until I've read the document end to end because of this, and it frustrates people waiting on me, especially if it's an in-person thing. With how many lawyers being sanctioned these days for using AI without verifying their work, I'm honestly surprised they're taking this path. Though, I suspect whatever summary is generated will not be saved anywhere associated with the document for future legal defense if it gets something wrong and the signer inadvertently violates the document as a result. As a matter of legal protection, I'd 100% avoid using this function. I wish I could just avoid docusign entirely. @mariejulien@mastodon.social

There's still this narrative that AI "went rogue" in these hacking events where AI driven agents and tools "broke containment" and hacked third parties to achieve their goals. Let's reframe this as these AI labs, maliciously or not, used hacking tools to hack into third parties using autonomous agents. Stop deflecting the actions onto the tools. They can't do shit without inputs. Someone gave it all of the tools and information and told it to get busy.

AI could have been really cool and interesting. Like, actual machine learning, useful tooling, etc, could have actually made our lives better without making people feel ill. There's some really cool technology utilizing AI that are in R&D, that is NOT the enshittification that's being violently shoved in our faces.

But a bunch of techbro billionaires angry that crypto and NFTs didn't take off had to stick their collective dicks in the mashed potatoes.

I'm quite angry about this, really.

There’s certain people I do things on various weekends with that every time I have to pry times out of them. They’re never on time either. But knowing some kind of time is still useful to me. In fact, just “Sunday” is stressful to me. Am I wrong in thinking this is just rude? I know there are plans today. That is all. Literally all I know.

Someone with $174k per year personal income, not inclusive of their side hustles and their spouse income, while the median household income, inclusive of multi-income housholds, is $84k per year, complaining about not being able to properly budget for their family maybe shouldn't be in a position to manage a federal budget.

Walmart near me is having new 400kW fast chargers installed. It seems this is a straight Walmart thing now, not their original EA deal. One of my first complaints about public charging is having to use an app to use them. A lot of public chargers have moved to having pay terminals available at the charger, similar to fuel pumps, making the situation far easier on EV owners. Because who wants 20 different apps just for one function? Walmart seems to think you need yet another app. From what I’ve read you cannot use their chargers without the Walmart app. Thankfully I don’t depend on public charging.

So it seems Mobi firmware 7.9.1 is what brings Dexcom G7 15 day support. But it needs an app update that's not yet released.

I imagine that's coming pretty quickly. I have a decent supply of G7 right now, so I might go ahead and ask my doc to switch my script over for the next fill.

Welp, tree guy showed up from the landlord after my request out of that storm, and he believes the whole tree needs to go. I was kinda afraid of that. The pruning he did was optimistic that it would recover from the loss. But the wind damage after means it's lost more, and it puts what's left at risk of further damage, potentially something falling on the house. Which sucks because the 2 trees in my backyard are perfectly spaced for a hammock. No more hammock :(

So as it turns out, in order to debug on an iOS 27 device, you need Xcode 27, or the debugger crashes and causes the app to just hang.

So now that I have a macOS 27 device with Xcode 27, I can get back to debugging.

I can't quote the toot that made me think about this, but it occurs to me that aphantasia is likely the number one reason I don't enjoy reading books. It's just dull words on a page. I do enjoy audiobooks though. I still can't really picture what's going on, but the storytelling can help with understanding the story elements enough to enjoy it.

Alright, talked to my pharmacy benefit provider. I have 2 choices of pharmacies I can use for "maintenance medications": Costco or CVS. There is not a Costco near me, so that leaves CVS. The only other option is mail order, and since I have had issues with mail order stuff that needed to be kept cool, I would really rather avoid that. So I guess I'm transferring back to CVS.

If you can't grasp the problem: Fuel center workers frequently have to remove them. In order to keep their jobs. I hear this from a relative working at their fuel center who complains about them returning daily. The company requires it because they don't want to be seen supporting the political message. Their fuel center is attached to a grocery store and I've seen the stickers in there too, and heard the stories and complaints. You're not clever. You're not original.

I just learned Flock sells autonomous drone surveillance.

It's a platform deployed by Flock, retaining ownership, which integrates with various systems, including known flawed gunshot detectors, and operates, primarily, autonomously.

Call 911 and give the address? They promise to have a drone on scene within a couple of minutes.

Trigger a hit on a Flock AI camera? You could be followed by a drone in minutes.
