No, I never had an account on that “birdsite”, even though I like birds. Simply came here and loved it! When the server I first signed up on was shut down, I set up this tiny instance of one.

I’m still fine with the „don’t feed the troll“ approach. I’ll look at their timeline and mostly, I find such accounts have a lot in common.
- mostly male (sorry guys)
- often just a handful of followers who turn out to be similar pricks boosting each other
- often comments that can be reported (but sometimes they run their own servers so forwarding it to theirs doesn’t make sense. As I’m my own admin I’ll defederate in such a case, rather than block).
And before I block them, I may leave a comment just for the lurkers.
Or not. Because , think about it: there are hundreds of foul servers out there with thousands of really bad actors you won’t ever come across because your server’s blocklist protects you from them. (yay admins!)
I think of that one troll as being one of those. Blocking them shoots them up into this troll space where they can orbit each other forever. I let them go, and move on.
