A question for my autistic friends. Many autistic people struggle with social interactions and forming relationships, which is why they often feel lonely and isolated. I’d be interested to know how you usually go about making new connections, whether they’re friendships or romantic relationships.

Sometimes I wonder what’s wrong with me that I have such a hard time finding a romantic relationship. I’m tall, intelligent, and have an average appearance and figure – in that regard, I don’t think there’s anything terrible about me that would significantly disqualify me.
And then there are plenty of other people who are more or less attractive and intelligent, more or less good and decent, and yet they have no trouble with relationships.
I really don’t know where the problem lies, but this situation is very frustrating.

Why do people judge others so quickly? Why do they judge someone just because they don't have a job (specifically women judging men)? I understand that this can be a problem for some people, but I don't understand why a woman would judge a man for this without knowing any details. Why doesn't she ask for more information, such as why he is currently unemployed, how long he has been unemployed, etc.?
But no one cares about that; it's much easier to quickly judge someone and ghost them. In today's world, no one wants to put in even a little effort when dating. After all, there are endless numbers of other potential partners on the internet, so why bother? It makes me sad.

Why do people judge others so quickly when they first meet them? Why do people judge others based solely on their own assumptions, and are unwilling to find out if those assumptions are actually true? Why are people unwilling to really get to know someone?
Instead of trying to get to know each other, people just look for flaws and shortcomings in others that they can use as an excuse to run away, as if they themselves were perfect. Then why the fuck do you even bother "getting to know" each other?
People have really become stupid in this modern age, and the internet, which was supposed to bring people together, only divides them and causes harm. I’m really tired and frustrated by all of this.
The more I try to find my soulmate, the more I get hurt. People are the worst creatures that exist, and Earth is a disgusting place where I really don't want to live anymore.

@undefined_variable@mementomori.social Yes, I believe that NT people are naturally good at meeting new people and find it easier to do so. Personally, I see the problem as being that I basically don’t socialize much; I’m withdrawn and shy, and I don’t know how to approach people. So even if I did go out and socialize, I wouldn’t have a clue how to do it. I don’t know how to make small talk, and I don’t even like it. I don’t have the courage to approach a woman, and women aren’t in the habit of approaching men either—at least that hasn’t happened to me yet.

@undefined_variable@mementomori.social I know that these days it’s generally difficult to find a romantic relationship, and even neurotypical people struggle with this, but when I look at the world around me and see people who, from my perspective, are worse off than I am, and yet they have no trouble with relationships—and in the case of men, they even have very attractive partners—I simply can’t help but wonder about it, because then it seems to me that there’s something wrong with me when other people don’t have these kinds of problems.
