Just checked out meshcore again after a bit more than a year. They "fixed" the one main thing that I predicted will be closely coupled to adoption. There now is an easily accessible "main public channel" chatroom feature - the thing in meshtastic that delivered that feeling of instant success and cb-radio vibe. At the same time the robustness of the protocol still is there. In other words: There is no reason to keep bothering with meshtastic or suggesting it to newcomers.

This turned out to be surprisingly interesting. The asianometry yt is always is worth a watch but this one stands out. It's about the history of japanese porcelain manufacturing and what toilets have in common with semiconductors. I never knew that noritake, maker of the plates I use daily, was connected the famous washlet maker toto, whose products I also have in my home. Gerade einen "Gastbeitrag" von einer "Bestsellerautor- und Podcasterin" in der taz gelesen - echte Expertise halt: Das Problem ist nur mit mehr Komplexität zu lösen und es muss ganz dringend auf FRMCS umgestellt werden. Glaube ich mache das Internet™ für heute mal zu, sonst krieg ich noch Puls, bei so viel geballtem Fachwissen. Bin aufs postmortem gespannt. Das wird hoffentlich interessant/lehrreich. Kudos auch fürs saubere wieder anfahren, ohne Stromausfall.

Klar kann man das redundant auslegen - wird auch der Fall sein - aber bei einem upgrade kann halt durchaus mal was daneben gehen, wo man nicht "mal eben" rollback oder failover machen kann. Wenn Du nicht 1000% sicher bist, wie der Datenbankstand dann ist, dann drückst Du verdammt nochmal den roten Knopf. Zur Not bundesweit.

But from a German perspective there is a lack of feeling that we’re in this together. That other european areas and cultures are a part of our collective narrative. For the next decade, I hope for a better feeling of togetherness - for we will have to rely on that what unites us in order to master the challenges ahead.

but there’s still room for more lively cultural exchange. In the news for example I’d like to be more informed about what happens in France, in Spain, in Italy, not only regarding foreign relations topics or once every few years when there’s a major voting day. Day to day stuff. Treat it like was an adjacent region. Stuff that happens there is it as interesting as stuff that happens in Bavaria or Schleswig-Holstein.
