Enshittificattion is just the symptom of that.
Decided to try out #CachyOS, since so many people seem to like it a lot.
I don't.
Everything is so ... extremely configured and skinned. It's sort of nice, but just not in the way that the dotfiles I have dragged with me for more than a decade are nice. CachyOS just feels tacky.
I like that I can install CachyOS on encypted btrfs and I'll poke around in that and then checkout Gentoo next, and try btrfs there. I am pretty sure Gentoo is much more to my liking.
And there's always Debian...

@aesthr@wandering.shop That's really cool. I am thinking about getting a dedicated PC for Zwift sometime before it's too much winter for outdoor cycling, this could be it. Also, hardware hacking is fun, and this is at a level I am comfortable with.

The upside is that it'll be obvious to everyone that we have Musk to thank for it. He'll be popular, I'm sure. He'll get interviewed, and he'll say something really ridiculously stupid. It'll be great.
Just woke up from a nap with intense dreams in the style of @prahou@merveilles.town's Japanese Jesus. Now that I am fully awake I have no idea about anything else in those dreams, just the style. Pretty cool.

@eanakashima@hachyderm.io Had a CEO once who announced new things by talking about all the ills of whatever necessitated the new thing, then added a "oh, by the way, this is the new thing we will do" - I ended up tuning out whenever he was talking, until he started to sound like he were starting to wind down.
It's an atrocious communication style.

Then, just before releasing that, they could release a good Windows 12, same as Windows 11 without all the co-pilot and microsoft account crap etc., a really barebones windows version, for those that just want an operating system (99% of users). I think I might even use something like that.

I remember reading ESR's Cathedral & Bazaar thing and thinking he was a good guy, who just liked guns a bit much. It was a different time, and, in hindsight, not in a good way.
I think I'll go all-in on Gentoo in the future. They seem to have the right taste in things.

@fanden Jeg har lige overlevet McD ved bare at skride igen uden at få det jeg havde bestilt. Der var så meget bippen og dytten fra alt muligt i køkkenet det var umuligt at stå og vente.
Nu kan der så gå 5-10 år igen inden jeg sætter mine fødder i det helvede.
