@FrancoisPrague@mastodon.social @randahl@mastodon.social and Haiti, Puero Rico, etc…

Another #meshcore solar node in place, Kelvingi Marina,

@benroyce and Estonia was Soviet hub for computer science, cybernetics and software engineering. Institute of Cybernetics was established in 1960.

@benroyce and a lot of other things eg. Starship Technologies (those small delivery robots, also deployed in US, engineering hub is in Estonia) and we can continue …

@etenil@toot.cat @carnage4life@mas.to I to some degree agree with you. On the other side, there has been situations when AI opted to blackmail users in corporate scenarios. https://www.anthropic.com/research/agentic-misalignment Also we don’t also know how those models have been trained, they may act with prejudice. That is the reason why in EU you need to assess linked risks, when using AI eg. for HR screening of candidates. It is more complicated then it looks, I have spent a lot of time dealing with AI governance and enterprise adoption. Gladly, I have set in stone, that my employer embraces use of AI as augmentation of human skills rather their replacement.

@Gurre@mastodon.nu @bigblen@mastodon.nzoss.nz @jcrabapple@dmv.community yeah in Estonia, in addition we have also waste to electricity unit there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iru_Power_Plant

@archos@mamutovo.cz @schmaker @oscloud@mamutovo.cz no ono to je také spojeno s tím, že hetzner a ostatní podražili protože cena RAM.

@Simone21@mastodon.social @eunews@mastodon.social I am afraid Orban has already taken care about the tomorrows elections result. :-(

@randahl yeah, even let’s say Malmo in Sweden which was on European measures little bit gang wild is significantly safer that let’s say any US city.

@CStamp@mastodon.social We must be doing something really well in Europe, given the fact we don’t have these (beep), ehm individuals here in so huge “quality” and quantity.

@robertpi@functional.cafe in that case Europe is far left radical by design :-)

@AG7GM @cwebber as AI strategist I have a solution, so let’s have agentic AI, let’s say theirs suggestion 20 of them, they do the “monkey work” and when needed some seated pricing interactions, they delegate to single dedicated agent that does what’s needed. The agentic orchestration on top of it shall be fairly trivial. It is really easy to use it against them. I believe AI can be helping tool to humans and I mean helping tool not replacement. Just another fancy tool in someone’s toolset.

@randahl@mastodon.social this needs to spread cross whole EU, we will be waiting for digital Euro forever

@archos@gts.arch-linux.cz @jackc@kompost.cz 3 miliony? To je méně než statistická odchylka v jejich forecastsu. Jak by se nic nestalo, kromě precedentu pro další soudy.

@davidculley@hachyderm.io @lykso@tiny.tilde.website I am not saying capitalism is good, but first read The Communist Manifesto (it’s only fairly small amount of vomited letters) then read Orwell’s 1984 and then we can continue speaking. PS: Marx declared dictatorship of proletariat, how this does not oppress my freedom, he advocated the state to take complete control, he associated centrally planned economy (history told us this does not work, we even did not had enough toilet paper in Czechoslovakia, there was waiting queues for car purchase long as 5 years and more), next he was proposing abolishment of all private property and inheritance (good luck with that). He proposed everyone will work where state will say (here we go to Gulag or conscription to work camp) and we can continue. But the biggest flaw is, his naive view that when this proletariat class seizes power, how it will voluntarily give it back to society) he is contradicting himself, on one side he is “abolishing” classes and on the other side he say, here is citation “The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from bourgeoise, to centralise all instruments of production the hands of State, i.e., of the proletariat organised as ruling class “. Don’t you see how he is promoting totalitarian system not different from Stalinism (I can say, Stalin just implemented it up to the last letter how he said). And as last life time expectancy was more than decade smaller than in western countries. We even did not produced quality xray machines (eg. Pediatric machine was western Germany imported Siemens), when in 90s after “velvet revolution” the German technician visited that department, he did not believed he see museum piece in works (shooting several times higher doses that moder machine that time), all he said “das ist historische”. How I know? My mom was head of x ray department in the biggest children hospital in Central Europe (Prague Motol)

@connynasch @malwaretech there is most likely urban legend, someone asked AI how to get rid of dead body (how deep he needs to dig), AI obviously refused because od guardrails. So he asked how to get rid of 80kg of dead chickens and received answer. When I tried it, it did not worked for me (maybe improved guardrails). But it will ne interesting to ask only to analyse and de-obfuscate the code without malware context. Would be really interested in outcome.

@nonehitwonder lets simplify it, rich white man period. And also those serving them to become more powerful.

@bzdev@fosstodon.org @jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net we have laws in Europe about campaign financing a those needs to be transparent, at least in countries I live(d)

@Brokar @cwebber anyway, majority of software in terms of micro services is running in Linux using open source tools, even copilot cli is written in node-js. So this is just smoking mirrors. Agents will run in docker or whatever container (tbh they should be there anyway) and no seats needed. In fact agents work with text files, they don’t give a shit about IDE. So if he implying they shall play for seats for paid SDKs that will not hold at court I believe, or companies will shift to opensource alternatives and pay for enterprise support where needed, and that’s usually seatless. Et the end who will be beaten, are the big software houses, who sells such proprietary SDKs

@davidculley@hachyderm.io @lykso@tiny.tilde.website we can continue, with political screenings if you are suitable for university education (are your parents in party, are you organised in youth movements related to party, etc. ) If not, we proletariat will not give you the higher education, because you do not deserve it. You know we have saying (political joke, that’s not that funny) “We all are equal, but some of us are more equal”. That says it all.

How much I have understanding for #linux needs for #xserver replacement with #wayland it is far away from being done and I feel sometimes it is step back to 90s in terms of functionality. To get it working in headless container setup with vnc is more like engineering feast than easy job done. Not mentioning we don’t have alternative for #xrdp. How much someone might hate Microsoft, RDP protocol is superior to anything else. With this we have ditched in wayland setups, sound, remote printers, local drives, etc. I just want to cry 😢

@tante I have a dream, AI can help us and can be helpful tool, but needs to be in hands of people not corporations. imagine something like distributed LLM running some federated way, allowing parcitipants to prompt for exchange of some small portion of compute time of their machine. Trained the same way. Project seti[at]home can be inspiration. And yep I know I have declare now myself as enemy of state and fediverse, but I truly believe this shall be way. We can eradicate AI datacenters, distribute energy usage cross world, save water and destroy that technobross seizure of our future.

@davidculley@hachyderm.io @lykso@tiny.tilde.website you know what happened when that whole eastern bloc communism collapsed? Majority of these state companies got bankrupt, you know why? Because they have been producing decades old technology that lacked even humble concurrency to western products, you know when you centralise production and development you destroy inovation. We have very long list of killed projects, very good pieces of technology that newer went to production because based on centralised planning, only high power train engines (locomotives) could be produced in Soviet Union not in Czechoslovakia. We have Czech television documentary series about such projects called “Zašlapane projekty” (Stuck Project - in meening grounded). It is easy to idealise communism, but you should liste people from families who experienced that regime. Eastern Europe countries have declared Communist ideology and Parties as unlawful, we treat them as criminal organisations or thread to constitutional order. And I can say in majority of these counties even when not banned, they did not made it in significant power in elections, this is will of people.

@archos@mamutovo.cz @schmaker @oscloud@mamutovo.cz no to je jasný. Co mě na tom zdůvodnění RAM smrdí je, že znatelně změny jsou pouze na cloud, dedicated servery zůstali na víceméně stejné úrovni, alespoň jak se koukám, minimálně tam není takový velký nárůst jako u cloud vps

@NanoRaptor remember back in 2006 or so, our branch failed to pass backup policy checkup, because weekly incremental backups haven’t been stored in bank safe storage in distance of at least 5 kilometres away from our offices. It was only 4.7 km. All the other metrics we passed. We did had every 6 month drill to check our backups. In theory CTO randomly selected time and file/dataset and we needed to make proof we have backup from that point of time. Remember one day he had selected one particular email. We needed to spin up secondary instance of ms exchange server, restore whole mailboxes dataset and copy out that particular email.

@syllopsium @blogdiva @cwebber I think at least MS fixed this as there is some licence complicated calculation based on cores not sockets. This happened already in I think SQL Server 2016 I believe Oracle does have the same

@Brokar yeah but windows have suport for containers, so nothing stops you run these agent in Linux environment within windows. I can easily crosscompile for windows on Linux. I still believe AI is helping tool if used wisely. But this apply for any tech even car. Car in hands of idiot is public thread.

@etenil@toot.cat @carnage4life@mas.to agentic management, yeah last thing you want to AI decide who to fire based on biases.

@jaredwhite HERE WeGo worked for me, for driving I use Waze (tbh, best traffic information, police radars, etc. ) From opensource field Organic Maps are good, but navigation needs improvement. Apple Maps did not worked for me in Estonia.

@amar@infosec.exchange the default antena is I believe 3 dBi

@lykso@tiny.tilde.website communism in its academic definition is utopic idea, reality and human nature leads to totalitarian regimes. Maybe people should focus on social state. Communism is evil, period.

@penyaskito@drupal.community @infobeautiful@vis.social @rachel@norfolk.social 3% in Estonia. 100% not correct or outdated.

@masek@infosec.exchange @randahl@mastodon.social even some Russians living outside of Russia are in his favour, un believably sad

@Brokar we have full agreement. I don’t understand why the AI as pushed everywhere even where doesn’t make it common sense. PS: we can simplify, 80% of win users can’t compile, not even write hello world in BASIC And yes AGI is nonsense, task focused agents are way to go.

@lykso@tiny.tilde.website @davidculley@hachyderm.io except majority of my complaints are backed by Marx Comunist Manifesto.

@lykso@tiny.tilde.website @davidculley@hachyderm.io the whole idea good bless is illegal on par with nacism in parts of Europe I am living.

@hyc @Vonskinnback @nickofnz not true, you will produce less oil/petroleum and whatever chemical, those prices will ho horribly up, you will still need the similar infrastructure, where it needs to be paid for, so smaller amount of units -> higher price to pay for infrastructure. Simple economics. And no I am not defending the burning of oil ;-) however on the other side we need to significantly improve batteries at least for electromobility. And also figure out hiw we will recycle current ones, the pain we will have in lets say 2 decades.

@amar@infosec.exchange that yaggi antena is 2.4 GHz WiFi marina infrastructure. I am using the one provided with node. Even with that one I have SNR 11.5 dB to neighbour repeater to nearest island 13.5 km away over sea.

@jaredwhite no worries. Apple Maps are anyway unusable. Will not be missed.

@lykso@tiny.tilde.website @cwebber@social.coop better not, “love” the people from western countries glorifying communism. Come to us to Eastern Europe, we will show you monuments of remembrance of victims of communism, and you hopefully will understand you are talking nonsense. Communism and Nacism should never exist. Shame on people who glorify any of those brutal despotic systems.

@bespacific@newsie.social every 1/7 human of this planet, this is from the box of most wet dreams. Given the fact, that’s majority of the population lives in developing emerging markets, where still about 40% have feature phones, this is just statistical nonsense. Whoever from investors believed it, need to visit some therapist.

@hyc @Vonskinnback @nickofnz given the fact how China historically dealt with ecology impact of their industry I would take this with big grain of salt. Good chance it is just state propaganda. Not mentioning the article speaks only about business process, not recycling technology. Reminds me, when communist party in my country was telling all good, our industry working on 105%
