@cccpresser@chaos.social I don't know the answer. It seems a better default would help everyone. It's worth reporting the issue. https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/issues I quit Github though. Thanks to Microsoft. #FreeCad need to do so too, if they want people to report issues.

@CmykStudent @hbons There is no one size fits all UI in any software. Different users need different things. All too often developers influence the decision. Where they are largely, but not only, text thinkers. Users of graphical design and photo apps tend, but are not only, visual users. I'm all for a setting to keep everybody happy. Apart for the poor dev who has to implement it.

@faassen @MostlyHarmless Yes. The twist was it was the doctor all along. The giveaway was, you should have recognised the person playing the doctor from some other murder. He did seem rather familiar, as he often gets these roles.

@vekkq @mitten It helps a lot if the bug is reported. So if you haven't yet, its worth reporting it at this link. Or see if its already reported. https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us Yes. Strategically, losing to the left means a divided left. Worse for Labour if they think 'party first, people second'. This is another one of the symptoms you get with FPTP. And if they are daft enough to say it out loud, you can see how bad things are already.

@enmodo@mastodon.social @rotan@mastodon.ie @BBCRD@social.bbc @BBC_News_Labs@social.bbc @Connected_Studio@social.bbc @BBCRadio4@social.bbc @BBC5Live@social.bbc Yes, by promoting those centralised platforms on the websites, the BBC is recommending people join Twitter and Facebook, telling people they are good. Thus driving people to toxic networks. But not towards any decentralised networks. Then you say you are judging "how many people we’d reach" when you are actually 'influencing' where people are. I must assume the BBC receive advertising money from those adverts? This makes the BBC look out of touch.

@helenczerski Pods! Having a good underground train system in my city, leads me to think of the next generation. More stations, for a shorter walk. Fewer train changes. Maybe trains splitting and branching off. Get on the front or the back depending on the destination. Dock 2 trains on the move. So people can change to the other one without stopping. Fraught! I guess. Make each carriage smaller and it could take you directly to your destination. Branching, docking and undocking while you remain sitting. They could even pop up to the surface for boarding. And we're back at pods again.

@danirabbit At the end of the day, despite all people's concerns and real reasons, be nice to everyone, and there's a better chance they'll be nice back. I've just quit Github though. So I can't report bugs there any more. I joined a long time ago, just to report bugs. Not for my benefit. Projects need to have somewhere less risky for users to post bug reports.

@ahltorp @roadskater @QasimRashid Meaning the weather could have nudged the figures down a bit. It's important not to cherry pick data to suit your position, which is what the other lot do a lot. On a zig zag graph, you can prove _both_ cases just by carefully selecting a zig or a zag. And as it's bad practice to boost unsupported or tainted data, even though this is hopeful, it might not be the best example to share, as it's more vulnerable to attack.

@ahltorp @QasimRashid @roadskater Sure, im not suggesting this was a classic zig zag case, just explaining their technique. And it's great the figures are way down. But it'll likely be dismissed as weather related anyway. Maybe let some more time pass to prove this is real progress , so it's harder to argue with.

@iwritelike I'm a visual creator. I code all day, despite having to do text based programming. Markdown is fine as long as there are icons for the styles. I use it all the time in wysiwyg mode only. The other mode, text mode, messes up what I'm writing.

@evan@cosocial.ca Once again, this is a question caused by user clients not working for the reader. There should be a user preference setting. The poster writes in their preferred structure. The reader sees it in their preferred structure. Posters have less to learn as they don't even need to know there was an issue. Sure it might not be perfect. But a good client could aid good composition. Let's advance the experience, rather than expect people to work harder to avoid issues.

@downey@floss.social "Testing for browsers" itself is a Fail! It's a symptom of a messed up industry. It's not OK. Test for 'web standards' is the right way to do it. Internet Explorer broke a lot of that. And it's been a mess ever since. With Google not helping at all. Greedy businesses at it again.

@svuorela@floss.social Cool. Is there another way to find recipes? Such as categories, or a tree? As 'text search' or alphabetical is not a great way for some user types. #UX

@svuorela@floss.social Thanks. A tree is good for visual type users. Who can navigate around and see what is there, rather than needing to think of an appropriate word. And can stumble across unexpected content which is invisible to a search.

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online It's good to know that road traffic deaths are optional. Most places choose the deaths option, rather than no deaths. This is the way it should be framed to authorities elsewhere. And hold them to account at each death they chose to cause.

@vtrlx@mastodon.social I guess many spoke up to say, hey I use the 2nd clipboard! Worried it would be lost. As Gnome removed several things people need in the past, people are bound to worry. (Sure, an option is totally fine.) It's very handy to have 2 clipboards. Note: it is not just text, but it can paste other objects too. In Plasma at least. As a visual, graphical, mouse user I have lots of productivity issues with Gnome. It seems tuned to keyboard users workflows. Plasma solves all these for me.

@wndxlori@ruby.social Is there a Facebook fedi alternative? Mastodon and others are Twitter alternatives. But those are all too shouty and shallow for family groups. I don't know what Facebook has.
