Is there any #OpenStreetMap based navigator app, where one could set up directions based on public bicycle rental stations? Like it guides me to one of the closes bike stands on foot, guides me to the nearest bike station to my destination, and guides me to the destination on foot? #OrganicMaps @organicmaps@fosstodon.org have you thought about a feature like this? 🤔

I've been studying Chinese for a bit, and as it came up here that Chinese not using spaces ruins hashtags in sentence (H/T @hongminhee@hollo.social ), and since then I'm trying to find some easy to digest materials on comparing the use of spaces across languages (the Wikipedia article is very brief on the topic with no comparative part) and the word 'space' means too many things for an easy search.

are there any linguists who could point me to some sources?

Replying to

@maxleibman Car transport is not controversial, even though it has

bigger environmental impact
massive cost of manufacturing and producing the energy for it
environmental and cultural destruction via road building
stress on its users who often go psychotic
stress on bystanders by noise
devaluation of human life
losses of limb and health
sustained by government subsidies to keep it "affordable"

Cars are much worse than AI. ✌️

Replying to

@mowenzi @arstechnica Until last year I was teaching chemistry in college, and the university was really trying to push us to use LLMs in our lectures... somehow. Luckily I wasn't doing stuff that requires a lot of writing of text, so I could kind of stay out of the hype cycle.

Replying to

@hongminhee I mean it isn't only Korean that has particles modifying words, like look at any Romance or Slavic language. On the lack of spaces... whell what can you do when some cultures are too stubborn to use a thousand year old invention that provably improves reading speed and comprehension? Hashtags are the least of their issues.

Replying to

@catsalad@infosec.exchange @noah@23.social No, not both.

Samsung
SK Hynix
Micron Technology
Intel
Kioxia

these are all memory manufacturers, and while Samsung takes up 45% of market share for DRAM, that is still quite far away from monopoly.

The issue is supply constraint, because it is very easy to promise building 500 data centers, but it is not easy to manufacture the RAM needed for it.

Hi fellas, does anyone know which brand of TV should I buy if I want to avoid most of the "smort" stuff? I just want to be able to watch YouTube and my Battlestar Galactica DVDs and my own wedding video from a thumb drive as an mp4 file if you catch my drift.

I heard Samsung has great picture but its interface is bad and apparently some brands have an interface that itself contains ads?

Replying to

@davidzipper I bet it would be very easy to make a law that forces the insurance companies to pay high enough payouts for the people killed and maimed by accidents so that they will start charging the real cost on vehicles. People won't stop buying these big cars out of the goodness of their hearts until society pays for the damages they cause. We need rules that make people and corporations pay if we want them to change their behavior. #Urbanism #WarOnCars #WarOnHumans

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social yeah, but this could easily apply to the installed MS Office suite, too... Last I checked (and I did, because at my work I use MS Office), it very much insists to log into an on-line account too. And being proprietary 🗑️ , you can never be sure, what it actually uses its online capabilities for...

Replying to

@ianthetechie I have tried the river bus service in London last summer, and it was quite nice. In Seoul however I somehow never felt the city needed one, the transportation options both across and along the river on (and under) ground were always satisfactory.

Replying to

@mattdm@hachyderm.io To be fair, no one cares if the inflation is back to normal in the last year if you are still paying the premium for everything because of the inflation of 2 and 3 years ago with no equivalent increase in your wage. I mean, food prices here are roughly the same as they were in January, but it is still mind blowing compared to how much a lunch or dinner cost only 3-4 years ago, when before that, the price barely didn't move for 3-4 years.

In the last months, my self-hosted #OnlyOffice document-server stopped working on my #NextCloud (both installed as a snap). I thought it was the iOS app and had no time to investigate. Today I found that it is indeed an issue with my document server, that sits behind a reverse proxy (Nginx), and it was working until maybe February. Now, if I go to the URL of the document server directly, I can see the welcome page, but helathcheck returns bad gateway error.

Did anyone have a similar problem?
