@desertgoalie@mastodon.social For Windows I used DVD Decrypter. That was the best for keeping the menus intact, though you have to choose the correct file to open in VLC (VIDEO_TS.IFO) For Linux, dvdbackup, but I had problems with some disks not working at all - I suspect the encryption was forcing errors. I might try DVD Decrypter in a VM some time.

@kelpana It's the same in Australia. People are all upsetti spaghetti because of prices and supply squeeze, demanding that the government do this or that, completely ignoring the fact that the fuel industry is run by multibillion dollar corporations that are raking in obscene profits as a direct consequence of the oil shock. Another case of privatise the profits, socialise the losses.

@jmaris@eupolicy.social @kde@floss.social I already have a Mint installation on an external drive connected to my main computer. When the time comes I'll migrate that to a new M.2, and hopefully turn my W10 installation into a VM. Dunno if I'll be happy with the results but, meh. We'll see. Maybe I can get Wine to work.

@ScottishGreens@mastodon.scot Possessing institutional privilege on the basis of one's immediate parentage* is such an unfathomable anachronism.

The idea that a nation should centre its collective cultural identity on the state sponsored elevation of a single family to minor godhood is ludicrously asinine.

  • I debated making use of another turn of phrase that was decidedly less delicate and included the use of the word 'squirted'.

@sigismundninja@mastodon.nu @rbreich@masto.ai American anythings, but arguably American Jews even moreso, have the responsibility to speak out against the atrocious Israeli regime and their campaign of terror against their neighbours. I'm not hearing a lot of noise from Jewish organisations aimed at denouncing Israeli aggression. Perhaps I'm not listening in the right places. Or do American Jews support Zionism as strongly as their Israeli counterparts? And do they think they are immune from accountability?

@CalcProgrammer1@mastodon.social Hey that's great. I've been eyeing off PCBway's offerings for a while - you didn't mention the manufacturer you are using. One suggestion I would make - I generally leave a generous space around the mounting holes so that nearby traces don't get damaged by the screw heads. Soft washers might serve the same function in your current design.

Okay then, here's a simple solution: wealth tax.

@hbons Well yes, I wouldn't argue with the general sentiment, but that actually depends on the software and the time frame. Live service products certainly have a limited lifespan. On the other hand I can still use software from the 80's.

@loke@functional.cafe @LibrarianRA@worldkey.io I reckon car companies could build a car for cheaper than that if they made them as simple as they were back then. OFC, death traps and so on but there's a lot of extra guff we pay for these days that we don't really need.
