Taco Bell wasn't the cause, Taylor Farms was. Taco Bell was the only organization paying attention now that the CDC is gutted.

In Republican America

  • Taco Bell == CDC
  • Waffle House == FEMA

The smoke has arrived in DC. Canada gets revenge for the US violating its treaties and trade agreements. Irritates the eyes to just walk in it for 10 minutes.

leetcode is a pissing contest so you first have to hype yourself to to caring how far you can piss.

Seems like you could win standing on the edge of the grand canyon on a windless day? Do the rules require not getting arrested? Empire state building?

leetcode: Okay, how would you solve this complicated problem with a large problem space but it is really easy to check if a solution is valid.
me: monte carlo!
leetcode: no....no... this is a pissing contest to save electrons.
me: I have never worked on a code base that needed to save electrons (this way). Google, who does need to count each electron will never hire me.

This is an impersonator account, as one gets taken down, it just increments the number after the name and keeps trying. The other one got reported yesterday.

See, it "clones" an account by retweeting the target accounts data and waits for a follow so it can do DM and start a pig butchering session.

How it works:

  • CORS Proxy service, free but massively rate limited
  • TwitterAPI.io, paid screen scraper service

Elon Musk gets no $ from any of this. It is no worse than nitter.

Read only interface. See your friends, but if you want to reply, you can instead post an Invite to leave twitter.

How long does it take for a github pages HTTPS cert to show up as trusted?

Long time apparently.

Some more work towards reviving the look and feel of 2018 Twitter, "the good twitter" before Twitter itself messed up what wasn't broken.

@hosford42@techhub.social I think I'm a minority in this opinion, but you need to post regular original content on LinkedIn. LinkedIn has a content problem (not enough content) and will put your content in front of all sorts of people, particularly recruiters. I'd recommend looking for local|state|federal gov't work, but in the current env it would almost certainly involve moving to work on site.

IDEA: mastodon client that implements all the pre-musk Twitter Blue features.
- reader mode
- You should get a blue check that only you can see because only you know that you really are you.
- Book mark folders/library (machine grouping)
- Delete & Repost (variation on editing)
- Auto split long posts
- (optional) prompt "do you really want to post that" and 30 second delay before it really is posted so you can cancel it.
- Theming

Specifically

  • the usual domain is https://mawkingbird.com which is a new domain and block on some network for being new.
  • API calls to mastodon.social are blocked, but there are many mastodon servers and in "anonymous" mode, you can do everything but post.
  • Or you sign up to for an alt, once the app figures out which ones aren't blocked.

Do you want to know what Mastodon users are doing to the Funko Pop prices before even Mastodon knows? Subscribe to all the feeds. The API is free, that's zero Euros if you're in Europe![*] This previously insider-only info is insider-only because they can't convince anyone else to read their feed and then trade on the info.

[*] Zero pounds in England.

@danhugo@fosstodon.org In my speed read of Buzz... that sounds like an app (slack clone?) for an environment where you would want to know exactly who everyone is and not interact with just any relay. Also "identity" for an LLM agent is meaningless, each document is a different identity and the short document is Dr Jekyll and as it gets long it is Mr Hyde.

Ever wonder how much money is flowing into mastodon from donation?

Rough estimate via patreon data. That's like enough money for 3 or 4 FTEs.

Mastodon has a textboard embedded in it. A feed of all the new accounts first 20 posts of each user.

These accounts
- no established identity (esp if none even asserted)
- nothing to lose if they break the rules
- no reputation to besmirch
- no one has muted or blocked them
- too soon for moderators to squash them if they are bad actors

Github has 2 main feeds. The sometimes hard to find "home feed" which is 90% noise and the notifications feed, which is 50% live conversations.

Traffic is spiky (months with nothing, then boom, a lot of conversations)

So I guess there is need for an alternate view. If you could mix it with your mastodon home feed, then you'd look at it every day.

No one wants to look at githubs 2 feeds every day if 3/4 of the time they're empty.

Thought some more about this. If your employer blocks most mastodon servers, they almost certainly block open proxies and CORS Proxies (a more limited subset of proxies). At the moment, if you want mastodon, you can find an unblocked (there are so many) instance because federation itself is a type of proxy. You get bytes from mastodon.social via something-else.social. But if you will only settle for the full feature set, and not the readonly, then yeah, this might not excite those people.
