@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange It is deeply sad and chliiing. Fundamental to societal cohesion and health is people safely talking with and greeting strangers. Even simple things like a nod or smile. This article adds to the already toxic head- and smart-phone indulgences that put self ahead of others.

@alice@lgbtqia.space I talk with strangers wherever I go. I try, mostly go good effect, to treat all I might without judgement. As equals in a way. Buddhist concept of acceptance without judgement. It makes chat lighter and warmer.

@petergleick@fediscience.org Ultimately, we started the path to the end of our civilisation when people could acquire wealth and power. And corporations like lumbering slow changing behemoths that are beholden to shareholders and actually not allowed to care about anything else. It is all insane.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca @vicfroh@mastodon.social Very, very well put. Indeed! And how such a powerful being could not just at least try to keep it up to date. The bible story plagiarised anyway. Signature of myth all the way thr9ough. As for a trick played out innocent Eve that angered this deity so much that he went into the largest ever level of disproportionate punishment in the form of 'original sin'. Quite how we can be born sinful without doing a sinful deed ...

@greenpeace@mastodon.social That Norway is on fire is probably the most scary of these. It is guaranteed not to be fixed because the Corporations of the Capitalist machine were configured to avoid any need to care. About anything. Except shareholder dividends. Juggernauts racing to the end of civilisation and a scarred planet in the process.

@whophd@ioc.exchange @paulschoe@mastodon.world Thanks Christian. Oxytocin is generally seen as the family bonding hormone as it is released in parents to bring them together. But it also increases aggression to outsiders - support and protection twin needs for new parents. I just hate the wielding of privilege that many 'groups' acquire. To be able to preach to all in a busy shopping centre about a mythical God is allowed ...

@whophd@ioc.exchange @paulschoe@mastodon.world This detail is very generous of you - and VERY rare these days. We are in a lazy tick-box culture where even intelligent people succumb. From my view, the Jews are a kind of big cohesive family. Not a state. Much as humanitarians as I try to be are a kind if family united in a cause, not a state. Antisemitism has been leveraged as political and accusary mechanism. I could accuse religious zealots who try to convert me as anti-non-deityists.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange AI developers are also responsible. But that still does not mean they can know how it does what it does. Really truly! Not knowing how it works - how it does each thing it does in a generalised pattern matching tool armed with a vast LLM - means that developers do not have full control.

We have reached a catastrophic tipping point in #climatechange - where mass migration to cooler climates becomes a much more likely necessity and not just a desirable. Impossible to remotely fully grasp the devastation being wreaked very fast and very broadly in Spain and France. Imagine the billions pumped into destroying land and people in wars was spent helping fight climate change ...
