I'm reminded of Dennett's intentional stance and regularly think how useful it is to have concepts like that to make sense of why we project our own minds into other things. Come to think of it, 'projection' might be a good old psychological concept too.

If you are not, you live as if your life is more valuable than other people. I don't care if they fly or eat meat, as long as they live within those boundaries. The fact is, if you fly to Thailand, you will have used a large part of your annual budget for several years and qould have to make very serious prioritizations on your other energy demands.

Has anyone made a graph that compares the total emissions or energy use of AI to other significant global warming drivers? I'd like to get some proportions to this. #AI #GlobalWarming

The more serious climate change becomes, I am frustrated with how little personal responsibility we are willing to take and how an idealized thought about fairness (those who are richer / worse / etc than me should change, before I will change) gets in the way and unintentionally makes us fuel global warming even more.

I'm reminded of Kuhn's concept of paradigms which entails that there is always some conflicting evidence that any paradigm tends to dismiss (as noise, mistakes etc). Paradigms tend to shift when the conflicting evidence becomes overwhelming and a new theory manages to account for those previous exceptions.

Favorite hyperpop track is 'Brutalist' by Kim Petras (or maybe 'Basketball' from the same album or maybe RADIO by her on the Frost Children album SISTER). Strong personal story behind that song and an artist that decided to ditch her evil record label (Universal owned Republic Records) to express herself more independently. Det der slår mig er at det næppe kan have gået nogen forbi, at der har været en hel del debat omkring overvågning og hvor meget data omkring vores færden staten og diverse virksomheder egentlig skal samle om os. Med andre ord nogle ret væsentlige dilemmaer omkring netop frihed. Jeg kunne forstå, hvis reklamen sagde: Oplev letheden eller bekvemmeligheden. Men frihed ligefrem. Fri fra at skulle tage et kort frem, fordi jeg allerede står med telefonen i hånden? Det er godt nok en tynd frihed.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social When people say "I'm tired", 9/10 times I wonder if they're tired OF something, also known as being frustrated with something. And if you walk around with frustration with no progress, you tend to exhaust your energy.

@afewbugs@social.coop I think the thing that bugs me the most about nitpicking is how it takes the focus away from the topic at hand. Often to more simpler issues that are easier to form an opinion about. And nitpicking is full of opinions, often self-righteous ones. It fills the communication channel with noisy contradictions and redundancies and makes sure the signal doesn't get through. I see it in many online contexts, but the Mastodon-version of nitpicking is for sure very particular.

Favorite hip-hop record is 'Life Is Beautiful' by Larry June, 2 Chainz and Alchemist. This record has gotten a lot of bad reception. Domesticated incels. Probably the most terrifying band name I've come across in a long time. I had to panic search for an interview just to affirm they were not actually propagating incel views. To my relief, they're not and are in fact really smart.
