@delta And, Delta Chat works flawlessly via the TOR network and can be installed as a Persistent Application on TAILS OS. This is NOT POSSIBLE with telephony based messaging.

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org @jbrownesq@mastodon.social @d1@autistics.life I'm not sure the router is the issue at my locality. I think its the widlly variable and unreliable input network it's connected to. Part satellite, part fibre and part copper. Always 'choked' at critical/peak times. You could have a piece of wire with a gain of 100 as a router, means nothing if the network data rate is 10MB/S. IMHO. And besides, my internet is 5G, my Mac hasn't got a SIM slot I'm afraid.

@delta I'm not surprised. Actually, I'm surprised DC was ever in the Chinese App Store. As a matter of fact the reason I sold all my Apple devices and moved to FOSS was because they sold-out their principles to get into China for the cash. So, for the right price they'll sell YOU out too. But there are lots of 'resourceful' Chinese so DC will get around eventually. And, don't forget, thankfully Delta Chat works perfectly well over the TOR network and can be used as a Persistent App with TAILS OS. 而且,别忘了,值得庆幸的是,Delta Chat 在 TOR 网络上运行良好,并且可以作为 TAILS OS 的持久应用程序使用。 https://support.delta.chat/t/delta-chat-on-tails/3703

Has anyone managed to run DC on a TAILS install in Persistent mode? I have followed the 4 step guide from this forum, and the app runs OK, but returns a “connection refused: error OS 111” message when trying to establish a link. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Try as I might, even 5 out of 6 'thinking' adults in my immediate family, let alone the wider community, just refuse to even consider a more secure option. They just don't care! So, even though I love and support alternatives to the 'Big Tech' monopolies, reality still rules.

@delta@chaos.social Because Delta Chat uses the email infrastructure side of the internet instead of the telephony side, it can be deployed on systems where a telephone line is not available or undesirable, such as TAILS OS using The TOR Network. These deployments can still be fully integrated and synchronised with a telephony based installation of the app, totally across platform and/or device, if desired, or remain untraceable and anonymous. To my knowledge this not possible any other secure messaging service with a decent and functional UI/UX. Top service with unmatched flexibility and privacy. Bravo to the dev. team, and the relay providers.

So, 47 steals US$1,776,000,000.00 from the American people on dubious grounds and for dubious purposes and within 48 hours indicts Raoul Castro, after a 30 year wait.

Of course, the Cubans won't hand him over and the US will invade.

A regional war off the coast of Florida sounds like a good 'Trumpian' pretext to declare Marshall Law in the US before the mid-terms.

Therefore, with NO ELECTIONS during Marshall Law, 47 continues to rule as absolute authority ad infinitum.

And, let's not forget, American's voted for what is coming, some of them 3 times.

Nothing more embarrassing than an 'own goal', huh folks.

@ruben I tried FreeBSD, actually GhostBSD, recently and really liked it. However, the availability of drivers for even basic peripherals was, I found, still an issue, WiFi for example, and switched back to Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7) after a short while. No doubt if you are prepared to put in the effort you could find workarounds, but I'm too old for that. LMDE 7 would be my recommendation by the way. The advantages of Linux Mint, with an element of smugness.

A heads-up to the American people.

When the US military limp home with their tails between their legs after yet ANOTHER ass kicking in the Middle East, 47 is going to be pissed-off and want revenge for the humiliation.

So, once he attacks Cuba he will again turn his attention on his own people as the mid-terms get closer.

At this point, dear MAGA devotees and Republican Senators, the old adage "You reap what you sow" is something worth considering as your country destroys itself from within before your eyes.

And, anyway, its about time you experienced the genocidal nature of your government so often experienced by the foreign countries your military has invaded in the name of democracy over the past 81 years.

Remember, you voted for what is coming.

And, I would suggest, atm, international sympathy is pretty low.

I can only see three possible outcomes for Donald Trump when the US mid-terms happen later this year.

1. Assassination by friendly fire.

2. Prison.

3. Defects to Russia.

Considering the current rate of Trump family corruption, I suspect his family cartel of grifters are stocking-up on fur hats.

Jingoism does not always equate to patriotism.

I wonder if the increase in the number and severity of signs warning of potential ramifications facing folk who are abusive to workers is an indication of a reduction in community standards or customer service.

I know I haven't changed.
