@shellsharks oh, this is a very neat idea, a link dump of link dumps! I love discovering great posts that way! If you'd like, you could add mine (very irregular —still need to get my Readeck scripts figured out 😅, hope to add a new one soon™): https://kedara.eu/bookmarks/

@vhbelvadi @readeck I'm also a very happy Readeck user who is eagerly awaiting the notes functionality! Thanks for the great work.
Hi friends, I could use your input!
My mom has asked me to install Linux on her laptop, which distro should I pick?
- Dell Latitude 7320 Intel Core i7-Gen 11 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD
- Has to be stable, good hardware support
- Sysadmin tasks will be performed (remotely) by me, so doesn't have to be "beginner friendly" per se in that area (she won't be added to the wheel group 😅)
- Support for Xfce desktop (I guess most distros have that)
- Ideally support for encrypted root on ZFS
No: Ubuntu, Fedora, RHEL (or derivatives) please.
Given my recent fascination, I'd go with FreeBSD, but I'm afraid the hardware support isn't quite there yet. Voting and boosts are appreciated!
What should I pick?

So... My plan to build a Linux laptop for my mom didn't go exactly as I hoped, BUT: my mom is using Linux, and she's very happy with it! 😄
I had an elaborate plan prepared to install Debian root on ZFS, setup remote access, automated snapshots, remote backups, etc. See my two previous polls for the idea; thanks again for your valuable help! It did give me a lot of ideas, and also made me realise that it's okay not to have the "perfect" setup right away.
On install day, a few things happened: a) I wasn't having the best day (thanks long covid!), b) the drive configuration was less ideal than I had hoped (dual boot with Windows on same drive, instead of separate disks), c) there was more data and programs to configure than anticipated, and I had some trouble there as well. d) of course, I had to explain how it works as well.
Basically, I ran out of time and energy.
So I went with plain ext4 in the end, but was able to configure a functional setup for her at least. All in all, not too bad. If she continues to love it, I can always make small (or big; perhaps FreeBSD is ready next year?) tweaks in the future.
But the key takeaway: my mom is a proud Linux user now!! 🎉

@readeck @vhbelvadi For me personally, it would be enough to be able to just have a text area for notes per bookmark (so not necessarily per highlight), e.g. in the sidebar underneath the labels and above the highlights. But if you only want to have notes for added highlights, that would also work for me. I guess then it could work like in libre office writer or similar tools (e.g.: you highlight, then can add text in a popup. Maybe in the sidebar the text is shown below each highlight, when you click on it, it becomes editable). Hope that makes sense!

@readeck @vhbelvadi this looks very intuitive, thanks a lot!
Much to my own disappointment, I'm not a journal-in-a-notebook-with-a-fountain-pen kind of guy:

Goedemorgen allemaal!
