@aoanla@hachyderm.io Try the nails! My kids painted mine and I wore them to work at an elementary school and the sight of a very cisgender man wearing purple nail polish derailed a whole kindergarten class enough that we had to stop class to talk about whether it was “girl polish” or “nail polish” and that anyone could have beautiful nails if they wanted. So not only did I have fun purple nails but it helped make it more normal for others too. @z@blat.at @alice@lgbtqia.space

@alex@himself.alexanderdunkel.com I did largely the same thing (with bazzite / wireguard instead of windows / IPsec). It does work surprisingly well. Not without its hiccups, but it does do the job.

@brett I use a spacemouse all the time. I used to have one when I did cad work professionally and really missed it when I got back to doing cad work for my personal projects. I picked up one second hand and it’s so nice to have it back. Even for simple designs with sketches that are on the primary planes, it’s really nice being able to adjust my view quickly and freely. I find it much more natural the mousing the view around.

I did end up getting my replacement #SteamController delivered while I was a way on vacation. I’m a fan for #LinuxGaming. It is perfectly compatible, and feels and performs great. Bummer that my first one was broken out of the gate, but hopefully that’s just teething issues. A little birdie told me that the joystick sourcing was a real pain point in development. https://gts.amd.im/@amd/statuses/01KVTRMAB97SP1VNGXFM5Y4QGF

@lil5@social.linux.pizza backups are definitely key. I run my GtS on cast off enterprise hardware with dodgy power and internet… a UPS and loads of backups are key. Though I don’t do unattended backups. I do all those manually.

Dang. Was setting up a PicoDS so I could have the same save games on the DSi and 3DS (…for when the kids steal the 3DS…) and the microsd card slot just totally failed and just shoots the card out...

@marginally_constructive@social.tchncs.de Once you get up and running and start printing styrenes (or polycarbonates, or nylons) you might want to look at adding bed fans Those will take you from 55-57C to 63C or so chamber temps with quicker heatsoaks.

I have a habit of coming up with an idea for something I want to make and easily find that thing has already been made but it’s not just what I wanted, then I end up doing it from scratch

This steamdeck stand was this week’s boondoggle. I just want a simple stand and didn’t want geometries that are unnecessarily hard to print and waste material.

This one is 34 grams and just four simple perimeters.

Shout out to Valve for posting the #steamdeck CAD to make this easy.

@marginally_constructive@social.tchncs.de IIRC this is your first trident and sorry if this is stuff you already know… My trident chamber gets pretty toasty with bed fans and no other heating, like 63°C. At those temps, activated carbon becomes less efficient at scrubbing VOC. I’ve been using a 50/50 blend of carbon and scorch (potassium permanganate) and have found it to really help with odors.

I managed to find a lime green “New” #3DS LL in a Book Off+ in Osaka for ¥25,000, easily better than I could have bought it for locally. Screens are in good shape and the body has only minimal scratches. The battery was in pretty bad shape but I swapped it and now it’s running great. My kids say they wish I would have bought a second for them and have been playing it a lot… #gamedad #retrogaming

@gustavoberg@mas.to I’ve never really understood Ubuntu LTS over using Debian, unless you need a support contract. Or maybe if you really love snap? I haven’t used regular Ubuntu since 2010, maybe? But the release and update cadence seems Fedora-ish, is it any different?

The org is understandably a little picky about who and how they place the dogs. These pups have been trained and socialized expecting their humans to be alongside them 24/7 and they’ve never been to a dog park, nor even off leash. Up until very recently these dogs had never even played with a ball, and they often need time and training to be able to adapt to life as a family dog.

How do blocks work in #activitypub alongside the Move action?

If I block someone and they make a new, separate account, that’s pretty normal block evasion and I’ll block again.

But if I block someone and they Move to a new account, will they still be blocked?
