I've decided to start a project to help neighbors of existing data centers and proposed data centers to monitor noise using <$300 field units. I haven't built it yet, but I have done two other monitor projects with success, so I do not anticipate this will be any different... just a different set of variables and sensors.
Here's a page introducing the HDC Sound Monitor Project. (Just this page for now.)

Migrated from Windows to Linux leaving a Brother P-Touch label printer behind? Your printer may still be useful and work in Linux despite no mfg Linux support.
My decade-old Brother PT-2700 working on Gentoo Linux with both the command-line ptouch-print utility and the graphical ptouch-rs [Rust] application. I also built ptouch-rs successfully on a Raspberry Pi 4 running Raspberry Pi OS "Trixie.".

@Nonilex@masto.ai #SalemOR - 16 months City worked with Google entity for a $5+ billion data center on 64 acres all under an NDA executed by the City Manager. At least one or more city council members were unaware of the on-goings.
Government has now become an instrument of Big Money who induce secrecy to prevent traditional public participation.

@EINS_Institute@infosec.exchange This kind of destruction is a post-war contractor's dream. When all is done and the war ends, someone will be called upon to replace the infrastructure. It's not like there are a lot of firms that have the expertise or qualifications (i.e. World Bank qualified) to do that. I wonder what engineering firms made beaucoup de bucks after the U.S. invaded Iraq? I wonder what firms will be going to Iran to repair what the Trump administration has wrought.

@jxwojtowicz@mastodon.social Jack Smith is my hero. I was an attorney for 40 years, admitted to practice before the 9th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. I resigned from all bars as I no longer have confidence in our judicial system. Clarence Thomas, Eileen Cannon and recently appointed Justin Smith. What a tragedy and demonstrates how vulnerable our government is. Leonard Leo's insidious plan is reaping its horrific rewards and most people don't know or care. Mastodonians do.

@movim@piaille.fr Suppose one runs their own Movim server as https://github.com/movim/movim/wiki tells us. Can you tell us about federation? Can project A's Movim server federate *only* with project B's? I think so. I recall working in the XMPP arena at Oracle when Google Wave was a hot ticket over a decade ago (boy, was that a big wasted effort) and now I see Discord being blithely used by everyone often as their sole contact portal. People need a free alternative to Discord. You may be the ticket.

I'm almost 70 and I am continually surprised at how unsophisticated some people may be.
