Almost all code lives on GitHub or GitLab these days. Convenient, but your whole workflow runs on infrastructure you don't control. By self-hosting Forgejo, a free, #OpenSource Git platform, on a small VPS you can change that. You get repos, pull requests, issue tracking, teams and it runs comfortably on modest hardware. We opened the doors of our data center in Nuremberg for guided tours organized together with the Bürgerverein Nürnberger Westen. The strong interest showed just how curious many people are about the infrastructure that powers so much of our everyday digital lives, even though it usually remains out of sight.

Infrastructure goes beyond the data center. We not only build the infrastructure behind our services ourselves, but also extend this approach to renewable energy by installing large-scale solar parks with integrated battery storage systems. The solar park in Gumtow is a step toward our goal of feeding more renewable energy into the grid than all of our data centers combined consume. Once completed, it will generate around 90 GWh annually. #GlobalEnergyIndependenceDay

Expanding this further, however, requires careful planning, as technical, structural, operational, and safety requirements must not compromise maintenance, cooling, fire protection, or the reliable power supply our customers depend on. -Lea

We’re able to export either one of your backups or the current state of your Storage Share instance. There are several delivery options, file formats, and export methods available. @chris@nutmeg.social Of course! :) The sloped roofs of our data centers aren’t just for looks. The sloped design helps direct warm air upward and out of the data center. Inside, we carefully control the airflow using raised floors, cold aisle containment, and other measures, and the roof’s shape supports this natural flow path. Since warm air naturally rises, the sloped roof creates a high point where warm air can collect and be efficiently vented. -Lea
