Some random person on Codeberg who doesn't know anything about Ardour renders their judgement:

Providing an MCP interface to Ardour with the goal of assisting visually impaired people apparently overrides our no-LLM generated content rule, and we are thus labelled AI slop.

This person can just fuck right off, especially since they simply shut down the discussion thread because of course they are right.,

@samaaron@mastodon.social @mafe@layer8.space @ercanbrack@mastodon.online worth noting that for audio plugin developers, system audio I/O APIs like Pipewire are absolutely, fundamentally and completely irrelevant, since the plugin host takes care of all that stuff. Sadly not so true for GUI technologies.

A couple of days ago, the lead singer from James (so unc!) had one of the Guardian's "Honest Playlist" interviews, and mentioned Underworld's "8 Ball" as the song to play at a party.

But the link didn't go to the original Underworld version; instead it linked to Underworld front-man Karl Hyde's own cover of it, live at the Union Chapel in London.

It took a couple of listens, but now I have it (for a while) on endless repeat.

“I think you’re going to see a very traditional look for the market, yet it’s a very contemporary approach,” he said.

How do people look at themselves in the morning after saying this sort of drivel?

@kornel@mastodon.social well, yes ... and no. I'm one of the two main developers of the FLOSS DAW ardour, and it is true that we are running into issues with LLM generated PRs. But we're also running into people using an LLM to solve a very specific problem that is bugging them, something that we would never "ask an LLM ourselves" to do. Those PRs are often just a handful of lines with (often) obvious correctness. It would be a shame to throw out that baby with the other stinky bathwater.

@sobek@social.linux.pizza @samaaron@mastodon.social @mafe@layer8.space @ercanbrack@mastodon.online the fact that the hardware buffer size is a power of two (as it almost always is on Linux and macOS) doesn't tell you anything about the buffer size that a plugin host will use on any given call to the plugin's process() function. If power-of-two buffers are either required or very beneficial, then the plugin itself must arrange that, because there can be no expectation that the host will. I'm not sure why you call DAWs "offline applications".

@sobek@social.linux.pizza @samaaron@mastodon.social @mafe@layer8.space @ercanbrack@mastodon.online there is no plugin API that requires a power-of-2 buffer size (LV2 has an extension that allows to plugins to say that they require it, but this will cause many LV2 hosts to refuse to load it). Any host can create random buffer sizes for any reason (including, for example, automation). In short, plugins that absolutely require power of 2 buffers need to manage that internally - they cannot rely on the host (on any platform) to do that for them.

Two mastodoners answer the question "Who is Mark Rutte?"

Just a reminder who think that the truth is always obvious to those who truly understand the world.

@arod@social.coop @lislegaard@sonomu.club There's quite a bit of difference between "we do not at this time know of any platform we could integrate into bandcamp that would perform the same role, plus it's quite a large scale task, so we're unlikely to spin it up ourselves" and "there is no alternative"

@adrianmester@hachyderm.io @jaykuo@universeodon.com the FCC didn't threaten. the FCC chair mentioned that he was "thinking" about changing the rule; CBS complied in advance, for no required reason whatsoever. [ EDIT: this is incorrect. The FCC chair said that it should no longer be assumed as "a given" that talk shows were not covered by the rule ]

@Jyoti@mas.to the question is not so much whether they're made up, it's how many actual people have died and how much was destroyed in efforts to defend or delete the made up idea of a particular nation. In the case of Narnia, the number is likely either zero or very close to it. For the other kind of made up country, not so much.
