Norwegian listener, lover and maker of electronic music.

I want to connect with more likeminded people, and one of my reasons for making music is for me and others to feel less alone.

I used a Norwegian open-source tool to analyze my old Spotify data as a customer. I don't use Spotify anymore, but I can announce that of all the money I ever paid them, approx. 5% went to the artists I listened to. That is a pretty insane transfer of wealth from the bottom / middle to the top if you ask me. I already knew Spotify is a big scam for those not at the top, but seeing the numbers still gives me a bodily reaction. 😢 #spotify #bigtech #music

Mastodon reminder to people: The Bookmark feature is SO useful! I scroll a little bit on my phone, find a cool post / link, save it for later, read / answer on my computer. Also sometimes I want to think through something and reflect more deeply before chiming in. Or simply read something longer when I have the time and energy to give it the attention it deserves. Bookmarks people! #mastodon #fediverse

Interesting blog post by @tante@tldr.nettime.org

"Open source licenses do not allow you to forbid using your work in weapons. Do not allow you to limit using your work only for socially beneficial endeavors.

Open source is impressive, but tries to be apolitical and therefore does not help us fight back fascism.

It wants to stay neutral. But there is no neutrality when standing in a wildfire."

AI as a Fascist Artifact

(Christian Tieber hat eine deutsche Übersetzung des Textes angefertigt: “KI” als faschistisches Artefakt. Vielen Dank Christian!) (This is a bit of a merger of two talks I recently gave about fascism and AI. One was in German at the Cables Of Resistance conference, one in English at the Milton Wolf Seminar on Media and Diplomacy. […]

Is there something like a Bandcamp / Mirlo for film? If we don`t like these gigacorp streaming services, where do we go? Where are all the independent radical anti-capitalist films? Do they exist? With all its problems, in music it is easy to stop subscribing to Spotify and to start buying music pretty directly from the artists. Is there something similar for movies?

the more i think about it, the more i come back to this conclusion: content != art. sure there can be a crossover and a grey area, but it seems to me they simply have different values and goals. this does not mean people should not make one or the other, but i think it is valuable to separate them. i actually think they both get more valuable if they are really separate. feel free to chime in. like and boost, haha! because this post is not art. it is content. #art #content

What happens when the bubble pops? Are we splitting up the data centers and putting the (now cheap) hardware in our studios? Are we going to have insane-amounts-of-ram-inspired music?

The internet is still out there by @gavin57@toot.wales "The trouble with Google and search engines which also have an interest in selling their customers is, search results are often skewed towards pages that are good for Google and not for the person doing the searching. This is why nearly every YouTube video is about a product, or it is trying to sell you on a lifestyle that will require a whole host of products." WTF!!??

"We’re writing to explain how your personal data will be handled as Songkick transitions to Suno.

Because your Songkick account is active, your personal data will be transferred to Suno, who will become the controller responsible for that data going forward."

No more tour dates on my Bandcamp profile I guess...

funny. bandcamp doesn't allow you to include more than one album to a physical album.

soooo here you go. 1000eur for the digital version, 23eur for the triple cd.

New audio clip: Øy rehearsal 2026-03-19

"Fasten your seatbelts, here we go! We set our timer and just went for it. We stopped right at whatever time we had decided on.

Like a plane ride that feels like we are definitely going to crash, but where the pilot is in perfect control. In the end you can hear Janne say that it would also be ok if we had gone a little bit over, “you don’t have to hurry.” To which I can only laugh. What a joyful ride this was!"

@PersonM@dresden.network @incentive@mastodon.circlewithadot.net I replaced Soundcloud with Faircamp. Much easier to use for the user, but harder to set up for the musician. It was within my skills, but many people don't know how to host their own stuff. Facebook I replaced with a combination of website, newsletter, rss, Mastodon and Owncast. Hetzner supplied a premade image for Owncast that made it within reach for me at the time. etc. etc. etc.

What do you think would be most helpful, for people to stop relying on enshittified tools and platforms? Or do you think people should "just use LLM's to figure out it out"? Feel free to comment and reflect! #foss #education #ai #llm

@luka@sonomu.club yeah i guess, but definitly not a perfect system. we also tried to first make a secret digital release and link the physical to it, but then the physical would not turn up. i think this is the smoothest within this system.

@PersonM@dresden.network @incentive@mastodon.circlewithadot.net A musician on Facebook could showcase their music, interact with their fans, keep them informed about concerts and releases, livestream etc. Now a musician on Facebook are not even able to send information to those who have said the wanted to see it. Soundcloud was a nice way to host music online. You could send a link, people could check it out etc. Now you get bombarded with "sign up to this and that or you are not able to skip around in the track".

no but øy is a "normal" bandcamp situation: here is an album - get it digitally or on vinyl.

with ilkama we got:

  • album 1 digi
  • album 2 digi
  • album 3 digi
  • album 1-3 cd + digi

maybe i am overthinking it and a 3-pack is not the worst idea.

@PersonM@dresden.network @incentive@mastodon.circlewithadot.net YouTube is still probably the best video system, but because of monopoly they can crank the dial to max. This manipulates people into making for the algorithm, get addicted, make stupid thumbnails and sensor themself. Adding Hyper 8 to my distribution stack (or whatever) has been a big shift in my brain. But I don't think we create a big enough force against big tech if it is too hard for normal people to use. Which prompted me to make the poll.

@PersonM@dresden.network @incentive@mastodon.circlewithadot.net @elifyalvac@tldr.nettime.org hmm. i think it is wider than that. like, people can use linux if it doesn't require programmer-experience to use it. for a while it seems you needed to be a programmer, today most people could probably just use something like ubuntu or mint. how about smartphones? how about smart tvs, how about a cloud storage to be able to share files with your friends? do you think every normie should stop at saas? or should everyone be able to set up a chat server?
