It is rare that the village is even recorded in the county crime statistics and yet the perception is that we need protecting from something or other

@largo @EUCommission I don't really blame you. As an elderly Brit, I am delighted, many, many of us never wanted to leave in the first place. It was a stupid idea and has proved to be as disastrous as we feared. I hope the UK will be back fully within my lifetime.

@heinlenstein @patrickhadfield @Christo_459 Yarl's Wood is 5 miles from my home. It does not affect local residents, many of them are not even aware it is there so it's a hollow threat. I visited people held there for over 13 years. It is harrowing to visit, many of those visits will remain with me for the rest of my life

@DoubleTreble How is that allowed? It is a clear threat. There is a detention centre five miles from my front door. Local residents do not live in fear of it. It is a very difficult and distressing place to visit, far more so to be retained there of course. I have been known to shout "Get a proper job" at vehicles dragging people in or out of there, but most people are probably unaware it is there, so not even much of a threat.

@DoubleTreble I have had a very lazy day. I went back to sleep and didn't get up until nearly lunchtime. I did manage to pop out to get some more chicken food and a few supplies for an easy supper.
