Harriet Monkhouse

@HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @WCOW@beige.party My understanding was that Brian doesn't mind paying for George's new drone, because drones are a boring irrelevance to him; he objects to George buying sheep, because he doesn't want George to be a farmer, a role which should be reserved for people like Brian. (And I suppose he can tolerate the idea of Adam being a farmer if he follows rigidly in Brian's footsteps, but whenever Adam has an idea of his own that proves he doesn't belong with people like Brian.) #TheArchers

@WCOW@beige.party @HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @TCMuffin@toot.wales @BashStKid@mastodon.online I don't particularly dislike him, but I always remember my late friend Isobel's reaction to Kirsty and Tom getting back together. "No, Kirsty, step away from the Tom..." How right she was! #TheArchers

@MikeFromLFE@cupoftea.social @BashStKid@mastodon.online @WCOW@beige.party I suppose he's done other videos for ageing farmers who write cheques.

@BashStKid@mastodon.online @HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @WCOW@beige.party I was slightly surprised that George was happy with a cheque. Does his generation know what to do with them?

@WCOW@beige.party Now imagining Brian and Tom having to share a tie because Natasha has sold all of Tom's.

@BashStKid@mastodon.online @WCOW@beige.party @HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @TCMuffin@toot.wales I'm not feeling very confident about Erik, but I don't think there's any way Kirsty would go back to Tom. I think she'll be a single mother with some support from Erik. #TheArchers

@WCOW@beige.party Along with the ties. Actually, I think modern cravats are almost as silly as ties. What I would like is to resurrect the starched white stocks and cravats of the Regency era.

@WCOW@beige.party Probably died out.

@WCOW@beige.party He'd have a tie for funerals.

@WCOW@beige.party If it was silken tofu I don't blame Bert. Can't get a grip on the bloody thing with chopsticks. But I'm addicted to the firm stuff.

@tansy@wandering.shop There is a much longer history of trans councillors than you think! Only the other day I was thinking of Labour councillor Rachael Webb, who was elected in Lambeth 40 years ago when I was living there. I don't remember whether she was the first.

@HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @WCOW@beige.party You think the cheque will bounce?

@WCOW@beige.party It struck me today that there was something very similar in Brian's brush-offs of Adam and (last time round) George. Both interactions started with a tempting promise ("I'm going to give you the farm/loadsamoney") only for Brian to withdraw the offer on learning their plans ("No, no, not if you're planning to change anything at all on my farm/buying sheep instead of drones!") #TheArchers

@WCOW@beige.party Suppose we can't nominate Josh for adding to Ruth's paranoia as we didn't actually hear their conversation? #TheArchers

@Janet_52square@sunny.garden On a small screen, I thought the cushion was a cat, curled up in comfort!

@suearcher @oliver_bear A friend of mine was on the shortlist for the trip that eventually went to Helen Sharman in 1991! I think she got to do some of the preliminary training at Star City in Moscow, and she was definitely interviewed on Woman's Hour, but in the end she didn't get the gig. It would have been so exciting knowing I had a friend Out There in the Sky!

@cassolotl I didn't know you could have induction hobs with knobs, but I've had one with touch controls since November 2018, and have been very happy with them.

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt I am rather alarmed by the squashed purple one!

@robinhood@yiff.life This sounds a bit like my life reading proofs, which is an endless variation on: "How clever of you to spot that error!" "I checked it."

@suearcher I hope all goes well and she is comfortable.

@suearcher Oh no! That's so annoying.

@suearcher Perhaps a small wing of the museum could be dedicated to tea towels with Love Spoons on them?

@catsalad@infosec.exchange Bigeneration! I always knew cats were Time Lords.
