It’s not just #caturday, it’s Miss Cinnamon’s Gotcha Day and her somewhat arbitrary birthday. She is officially 8 and we have had her for 7 years. It didn’t take long for life to be unimaginable without her #CatsOfMastodon #cats #mastocats
I think it’s time to start doing #3goodthings again. Of course, it would probably be more useful when I’m actually depressed, to remind me that there are always some small glimmers even when it doesn’t feel like it. But hey.
1) I thoroughly enjoyed my exercise today. In fact I’m really enjoying it most days, I seem to have got back into my #fitness groove.
2) I am only at about 2/10 for anxiety this evening. It’s usually at least a 6. Winning!
3) I’m enjoying my online journaling and fitness groups more and more as I get to know the other women better. Such a supportive bunch. I feel really welcome and that I can be myself, even if that’s messy.

I let Tom use the oat milk after I saw Cinnamon lick the spout. If he knew he would’ve thrown the whole lot away and opened a new one. Nothing bad happened to him as a result.

Morning. I feel like I’m awake early but I was actually asleep by 9.15 so I’ve had 8.5 hours’ solid sleep.
Nervous about today, first new hairdresser to contend with, then meeting with people from the university about pausing my PhD. Tom says he thinks they’ll be guided by whatever I suggest in terms of time away but I’m not sure how long to ask for. I was thinking maybe 3 months, but I have no idea if that’s a realistic time frame in which to recover.
I guess I’ll find out today whether it can be revisited at the end of the initial pause. I know that I will probably cry and I hate feeling unprofessional and less than adult in front of my supervisor. Honestly, I am so worried about this meeting.
I think I might get up and go out, rather than lying here fretting.

Yes, but WHY are they repeat shoplifters? In most cases, the answer is poverty and/or addiction. People are either stealing things to live (food, clothes, infant formula, etc), to consume to feed their addiction (in the case of alcohol), or to sell on to raise money to be spent on necessities or drugs/alcohol.
Shoplifting isn’t going to go away with tougher sanctions or swifter court hearings.

Someone I know IRL always Googles the name of doctors she is offered an appointment with. She got a letter through with a gynaecologist’s name and she searched him up and the results said he has been accused of sexual assault. She rang the hospital and asked about this, they said it’s not true, it’s AI generated. She is not comfortable seeing him. It could be true that it’s completely fabricated but how as a patient are you to know? Careers get ruined by this stuff.

I find it very exciting to see a hot air balloon, I’d probably lose my mind if I went to the Bristol festival. These novelty balloons are impressive feats of engineering but nothing beats the classic shape suspended in the clear sky IMO.

IDK how any politician can bear to read that some families are too deep in poverty to afford such basics for their children as toys to play with, three meals a day, and a place to do homework. It is utterly shameful. What life chances do those kids have, malnourished and few opportunities to develop mentally and keep up at school? Grim beyond measure.
See also: “moron” and “imbecile”. These were all terms used to classify degrees/types of learning disability. So, btw, was “idiot”, so that’s problematic in itself. The left is very fond of using these slurs against MAGA types, and not very fond of having its ableism challenged.
I’m not tremendously interested in liberation that trampled over disabled people.

Tom’s ex insists the grandchildren call her “grandmama”, which I find pretty gross. If those kids reveal they have a “grandmama” when they are school age they’ll be treated with no mercy
I know I should give evidence but I just can’t face it. People with mental health disabilities really struggle to get PIP, and I should share something about how many Mad people find their conditions actually exacerbated by the PIP process. I just don’t have the spoons to write something coherent about it
