Just seen that stand-up, writer and general good egg Jen Ives has written an extended piece about her experience as a trans woman working at the BBC for the last couple of years. It's centred around the Supreme Court ruling, and the effect it had on both her working environment and her mental health.

I will once again assert that she is the Trans Executionary Rancid Fuhrer and that the “women’s groups” she supports and her minions are Trans Exclusionary Rabid Fascists. A slavering, bootlicking and goosestepping Cistapo, causing harm and terror to trans people around the globe. A person's rights stop where another person starts. There are no women's rights without trans women's rights. Women's toilets are PUBLIC toilets and cis women cannot exclude trans women from them.

Normally we reserve our toilets for customers only, but moving forward we will allow any trans person that needs to use facilities to use ours.

Also there are plenty of responses that actually this is fine, because human-authored textbooks are overpriced and terrible anyway. I mean maybe cheap (assumed) and rubbish is better than expensive and rubbish, but I can still think of a much better outcome.

@peterbrown @Wen Yes, I was unclear - my reply was referring to support for independence. The poll here shows 73% in favour of a united Ireland (and 68% in the north) once don't knows are removed. We are still scrabbling around at 50% for indy, as we have been for the last 12 years.

@Wen @peterbrown I always say I'm the eternal pessimist regarding this stuff. But I just don't see the strength of feeling required to make a significant impact on Westminster, especially a government that will be happy to performatively punish rebellious Scots.
We had similar hopes regarding Boris, Brexit, WM overruling Holyrood etc. but nothing of significance occurred, and I can't see that changing.
Numbers are the only thing that matters, really.
