At a doctor's office today they asked for my biological sex in a digital form. They then showed a cis male body and asked me to point to the area I need help with. This does not cover my body and it feels disgusting. I'm not sure how to answer this question in the future because this choice simply does not represent my body and medical staff might not realize that I have breast tissue, estrogen, a vagina ect.. This is why I think we need new language to describe the biological reality of #trans people. "Male" just doesn't cut it for a lot of trans women. The social and political aspects of using #linux is the only reason I put up with anything that is less convenient than on a Mac.
Not surprised people with #adhd are a culture war target. If you want to remove social and public services the last thing you want is empathy for those who struggle.
A "Not interested" option in #loops would be nice. There are many accounts on my For You with stuff I don't want to watch but blocking them feels wrong. I don't have any issue with them and I would not mind receiving DMs or comments. I feel like this feature could be interesting for other people as well.

The difference between the #fediverse and big tech social media during the last week:
On #mastodon and #loops people told me that they liked my work and wished me a lovely day.
On Instagram people told me that I'm a sick piece of meat and I should hang myself.
I know my tribe.
In public settings my brain let's everything in, all at once. And since I'm appearently lacking appropriate hardware to filter inputs it feels like I have to fall back on software rendering, linearly weighting and categorizing every input, social settings are exhausting for me. I don't know if this is #adhd or something else.

This year’s Trans Day of Visibility gets rescheduled to the next day you’re voting. I had too many people who don’t consider themselves transphobic vote conservative out of disinterest or tradition. These people either have no fucking clue what the consequences for me and my community are or expect me to not mention it. Of course, they’re not even aware of the consequences for their own lives.
If you want to show up for the trans community AND yourself, include us in your calculation next time you’re voting.
Also, if you have trans people in your life, make sure they feel safe and loved during these difficult times. The attacks keep coming, and we need people who see what’s happening.
The "woman face thing" is interesting. (When they try to link trans women to a practice similar to blackface) It's a good example of why leaving gender-nonconforming and non-binary people behind won’t save us. Respectability politics never worked because it was never about justified criticism or "good ones" vs. "the weird ones". They want to get rid of us, and once they’re done with them, you’re next. The only way out is together. And I’m not shaming anyone who needs to blend in to be safe. I know that once discrimination stacks up, assimilation is survival. A open-source social media scheduling app that combines conventional social media and the #fediverse would help a lot with adoption, I think. I imagine many smaller organizations, schools, and universities would love a simple scheduling tool. And if it combines both worlds, it’s a small ask to also toggle on #mastodon, #pixelfed, and #loops. Is there such a tool out there?

Agreed. 100%. But my question was about projects run by people on their own PCs. Not big tech models, data centers or stolen data. Training should be distributed. Data only contributed by people for specific models and opt-in only (no public domain, no crawling). Data, models and output should be copy-left. I'm an artist and if I would knew this is a debian like project and it's output is licensed copy-left, I would consider contributing some of my works. I'm not interested in slop. I would be interested in a collaborative creative tool made by humans for humans.

It's so problematic to use gen AI images for news headlines, including science. The distortion and reality warping needs to be addressed. E.g if there is a new fungus doing new fungus stuff, I need to see a real picture, no matter how bad it is and not some prompt showing "fantasy fungus in an unusual color inside a petri dish". With an illustration or stock footage, I knew how to process that, but with gen AI images, I'm losing track of what's real information and what's a placeholder image. #genai #slop

Does someone who is fluent in EU politics know if the statement "EU declares trans women are women" is implemented in a way that is binding for member states and secure against a far-right majority, or is this just a gesture? After seeing how fragile queer rights were in the US, I need queer rights that have meaningful weight behind them before I celebrate.
I know the books not covers thing, but I’m a very visual person and it really bothers me when a book I want to read has beautiful cover art that was designed with intention and care in one language and the one I want to read is just ugly and dead.
