Born in the 60s. Living on the South coast of NSW Australia. Former journalist, now full time carer for my disabled son. Music maker, dreamer of dreams.
I like:
Electronic (and all) music, science fiction/fantasy. Rollerskating, swimming, bushwalking.
Degrowth, atheistic post-doom, neo-Luddism; peace, love & anarchy!
I deleted my big tech accounts, I'm now pure fedi. Windows, Android, Apple etc., are expunged from my life, replaced by Linux et. al.
Posts auto-delete after 1 week.
The power line outside my house is a good place for supermodels to make love to the camera.
My latest dodgy construction is a five metre screen to provide privacy and shade in a section where many plants struggle as they get blasted by too much harsh sunshine. I tried growing lilly pillies there, but they all died.

"Smart" devices are really surveillance devices. It looks like the best way to deal with them is to open them up and disable their wifi/SIM hardware. TVs are the culprit today, but I'm also thinking about cars. If I need a new car in coming years I will be looking into that.
The fire risk here (south coast NSW) is officially rated Moderate today, but it's windy and I reckon it's more like the Illawarra/Shoalhaven rating of High.
It's the Sydney Extreme that's motivated me to do a bit of fire preparation: cutting and shredding the bush closest to my house, turning it into mulch/compost which I hope will eventually improve the topsoil in my backyard desert.
Bonus photo of clouds which made me happy.
The Vincent Namatjira book arrived. It is lavish, full of surprises, laughs, truth.

A double anniversary for me today: one year since I bought my roller skates; nine years since I last flew. The two events are not connected AFAIK.
I can't afford a nice acreage with bushland, walking trails and a creek, so I've unilaterally taken possession of a section of Mogo State Forest. I think I'll declare independence. I still need a name, a constitution, a currency, and much more besides, but that can wait. There are already lots of snakes, spiders and various blood-sucking insects to serve as my defence forces.
Here's a short video of my sovereign trees.
Drought in England, yikes. Might as well stay in Australia.
Looks like fun, but it would get boring after a very short time. Also surprisingly loud.
I hate winter but I choose to categorise July as its last month. August is something else, a sort of pre-spring. The lengthening days show summer's approach is accelerating. Bring it on!
I'm talking southern hemisphere, of course.

Yeah, that newfangled AI thingummy is so great for journalism.
I've embarked on an ambitious project to create a sort of acid house version of "Canto Ostinato" by Simeon ten Holt. I'm about 10% into it now, grinding through the score, which is in the key of D flat, a challenge for me with only rudimentary skills at reading music.
I remember a story about S'Express acid guru Mark Moore taking Philip Glass to a nightclub, so it's not a new idea to mix classical minimalism and techno. But I am keeping the 10/16 time signature, it's very trance-like.
I was horrified/entertained by the 'Grand Designs' episode on TV here last night. A British tech bro discovers he can't afford his obscene "castle", when his credit runs out after borrowing millions.
His main product seems to be a light switch, part of a smart home system which remains largely vapourware. His business and his grand design frequently mention "sustainability", while wasting massive amounts of concrete, water, electricity and data centre tokens for meaningless extravagance.

Tuross Head. It's a lovely part of south coast NSW. So quiet.
I like the photo because it says "read 'On Tyranny' by Timothy Snyder". I already did, in 2017. It's a great little primer on Trumpism's fascist tendencies and how to respond to them.
The protest is specifically about Republican gerrymanders in Missouri.
I'm pretty sure we are doomed.
