@guyjantic@infosec.exchange @fesshole@mastodon.social The smoke alarm is forever known as the "llama" here.
@idlebrain@infosec.exchange @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social if I were to guess, "no additional supply planned" is because:
- Setting up a new fab costs $billions;
- Would take years to come online; and
- When the AI bubble bursts, there will be no demand for the new capacity and no one wants to be left with $billions worth of stranded assets.
@fesshole@mastodon.social you know you can buy cars that don't need you to fill them up with diesel/petrol, right?
@vwdasher@weird.autos @serichards@mas.to I was seriously tempted to spend the night in the co-op - they have air conditioning and ice cream.
@andyprice@mastodon.social Oops, very happy it isn't that hot!
@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk Thanks for this. How are they still getting this so wrong - the CTIRU list might sometimes be a bit of a mess, but it is at least a machine readable list of URIs, surely the sanctions list could have been piggybacked onto that existing infrastructure!
BTW, your blog has mangled the dashes in the punycode into emdash/endash.
RUS3052 has a couple of paths within t.me and a YouTube channel (which as you point out, an ISP is not going to be able to block, but some of us are in a position to)
@revk@toot.me.uk Designed to survive a nuclear war, not designed to survive capitalism.
Why oh why is everyone switching to "passwordless logins"?
"Its easier and more secure"
What, you mean having to fart around finding an email with a code in is "easier" than just tapping my thumbprint to unlock my password manager?
And by "more secure" you mean any attacker that gains access to my email can just log into anywhere without even having to jump through password reset hoops?
@vikki@know.me.uk I've gone with Virgin, since I use them for other stuff and they don't appear to be app based. This is despite the fact that Virgin have recently become part of Nationwide, who screwed me over 18 years ago. I'm rather hoping the 2 operations remain somewhat separate!
@justine I don't use any (nor want to use any) banking apps on my phone. I'll stick to the web sites unless they force me onto an app, and if the app won't run on a rooted phone I'll find a new bank (TBH, forcing me to use an app at all would probably make me seriously think about switching).
Flicked through some #manifesto things... dunno which w⚓ to #vote for.
@techcrunch@robot.villas maybe the politicians and billionaires should be under constant surveillance by the rest of us? You know, to make them behave better...
@r3bo0tbx1@infosec.exchange Hmm, yes, it appears that this wasn't the cause... I shall review my proxy logs some more.
@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk I have been drinking a lot of iced lattés during this hot weather - a very nice substitute for hot coffee.
@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk I do hope that "crackdown on dodgy online sellers" means that Amazon are going to become liable for dangerous goods sold through their platform...
@fesshole@mastodon.social if it is just about CoG, it doesn't have to be a symmetrical pattern, of course. Nor in the centre.
@andyprice@mastodon.social Pretty unpleasant here last night... I might sleep in the hammock outside tonight!
The humidity is pretty bad - we have a stone floor in the kitchen, which has stayed quite cool (below the dew point) and has been sopping wet.
@toychicken@mastodon.social Santander, Virgin Money and Barclays seem to have functional websites. I don't usually bank from a mobile device though. That said, Virgin are now part of Nationwide, who screwed me over 18 years ago, so...
@andyprice@mastodon.social I'm pretty sure a jigawatt is not a unit of power... Or anything else for that matter! :) But at least you can go back to a time before your house was too hot.
I think the #MetOffice may have been slightly wrong :(
