LGBTQ+ rights are human rights
Love is love is love

Be willing to visibly, publicly and loudly stand up against small-mindedness and fear of others. It might be that some around you feel the same and just need an example to speak up.

I've been very open with my direct manager and peers from the outset that I won't use it for a multitude of reasons. @SnoopJ@hachyderm.io Good advice. If you are in a super tenable situation (like me) then I gently urge NOT lying about using AI. That has been my firmly stated position since 2024 because I want folks at my company to stop and think before blindly following the herd and "doing what they are told". Being a visible person who's not participating gives room for others to also opt out. I'm not obnoxious, just very firm in my position and ready to accept being fired if it happens.

That's not great for the citizens of Kentucky. But it also impacts the ability of the Republican party to pass legislation. Presently there are 53 Republican, 45 Democratic, and two independent who caucus with the Democrats. Some legislation requires only a majority (50+1) to pass. And the Republicans have already had difficulties getting all 53 to agree. 2/2

After Elon Musk bought Twitter, an author I really like moved (back?) to a process of posting on his blog and automating cross posting to Mastodon, his newsletter and other locations. He's good about interacting here and elsewhere for a few days but mainly dies interaction on his blog. That makes a lot of sense to me.

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org I overlooked saying before that the portion of the fee for a safety inspection that used to go to the state government is still collected. It's a new line item on the vehicle registration bill. So while the state politicians will pander to their voters and possibly make the roads more unsafe, they were at least smart enough to keep collecting the revenue generated from inspections. To me that is a good thing because the money is used for the collective good.

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org I'm Texas up until January 1, 2025 annual vehicle safety inspections were required for all vehicles. Had to have a current inspection to pay the annual registration fees.

But now, non-commercial vehicles no longer get an annual safety inspection.

Some counties (like ours) do have to pass annual emissions testing still for all vehicles.

There were various (mostly bogus) reasons they stopped safety instructions but mainly it was:

In the US each state has laws determining the process of replacing US Senators and US Representatives that do not finish their term (e.g. resignation, death, disability or impeachment & removal). The federal law https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IF11907 Kentucky is 1 of 5 states that require a special election only but if it is too close to the scheduled election in November there isn't sufficient time to hold the special election. 1/
