I'm about halfway through my e-ARC of @kjcharleswriter.com 's Think, Write, Edit Romance, and I can already genuinely say this is the best book on writing romance that I've EVER read, and one of my new favorite books on writing in general, too. https://www.kjcharleswriter.com/all-books/think-write-edit-romance
(I'd definitely recommend it to any aspiring novelist who cares about character and plot regardless of genre, but if you're a would-be romance author in particular, this is really priceless!)
This is a lovely, thoughtful conversation between @MarissaLingen@wandering.shop and Jo Miles about their new Horned Lark novellas. I've already read Marissa's (A Dubious Clamour) and absolutely loved it! And Jo's looks great as well.
A moment of beauty from this afternoon's walk with Patrick (while the apple cake baked in the oven).

A question for any 19th century English lit scholars (please do boost!): when were Lord Byron's letters to his wife first published? I haven't been able to find a specific date for those yet. (I'm assuming it must have been after her death in 1860, but I could be wrong even about that vague assumption...)
It took almost a week, but celebration brownies have finally been baked (and they're delicious)!
These ones celebrate finishing & submitting the first draft of Melting the Ice Queen to my editor AND re-selling a short story, too (which I'll talk about more whenever I'm allowed). ❤️
And a flashback photo of our Clarion West class in 2001 with our first week's amazing instructor, Octavia Butler - I'm in here along with @patricksamphire@wandering.shop , Ibi Zoboi, K. Ibura, Susan Ee, and so many others who've been publishing fantasy & science fiction ever since!
Huzzah! For one day only, you can scoop up a whole bunch of cozy fantasy novels and novellas for 99c/99p - including my cozy-spooky romantasy novella A Honeymoon of Grave Consequence! 🦇❤️

In other news, I finally bought the blender I'd been eyeing up for ages (so powerful! so sturdy! so many blades! so sharp!)...only to realize that it might just possibly be TOO powerful for our family.
@patricksamphire@wandering.shop and I are BOTH wearing bandaids/plasters tonight! 😬
I just finished reading Charlotte Stein's latest rom-com, While You Were Seething, and it was so much fun! You can read my review on Goodreads -

...Just in time for the final story in the trio to arrive everywhere on October 14th!
Oof, so...our family is now on its seventh (!!!!) round of covid, and my daughter is really sick with the highest fever and most agonizing sore throat she's ever had.
IOW, it's going around again, and it's really worth taking precautions, everyone. ❤
After years of loyalty to Ben & Jerrys Chocolate Fudge Brownie, I'm taking a break (due to what a pain it is to scoop, despite its deliciousness). So, I ordered 2 new-to-me kinds of chocolate ice cream today, tried 1 scoop of each...
...& whoops. They're both delicious! It's the best kind of tie. 😘
f you're in the UK and you have a different favorite chocolate ice cream to recommend, please let me know! Long may the experiments continue. :)
