I hadn't thought about it but I got my uncle flowers for his birthday and he was so touched he cried! He was 80. Makes sense now.
He said he'd never gotten flowers as a gift from anyone just for himself (like they'd gotten them for wedding anniversaries etc. but that was a couple thing).

General sad rant:
I'm having a really hard time with some team members who will not respond to queries and requests. It's been about 5 months of back and forth. I can't "fire" them because of the nature of the contract but I don't know what to do and it's making me really stressed. And very sad. I feel disrespected and sad that I'm not getting responses and the project deadlines are just endless.
What do you people do?

I also don't feel like it's a compliment anymore. It just feel like the reward for being resilient is having to deal with other ppl's crap a lot more than if someone writes you off as a basketcase or someone with a "difficult" life. The people who use their problems and difficulties to act crap to other people just seem to get a lot more sympathy or leeway.
