I am not suggesting it is hot outside, but on my way into town, some Jawas tried to sell me a protocol droid that speaks bocce and an astromech that looks might it have a faulty motivator. Made a big mistake at the supermarket joining a queue behind some sand people. Nice crowd, but took ages to pay as the queue was so much longer than expected. They sure do know how to hide their numbers. #ukheatwave #starwars

In what feels like the most Mastodon weekend ever, I have tidied two bookshelves (discovering texts I had forgotten I had), added an album by José González to my Bandcamp wishlist, had a very nice vegan chilli and spent at least two hours walking outside.

With thanks to @AlienJay@burningboard.net for the recommendation, I have spent some time this evening setting up https://dockhand.pro/ It may take some time to see if it handles automatic updates of containers for me (and #Forgejo is a bit fiddly with that), but optimistic to see if it solves a problem for me.

@danirabbit@mastodon.online I remember seeing young people at both MozFest and contributing to various parts of Firefox and Thunderbird. They are valued for what they could do, the perspectives that they had (and led others to) and the continuity it offers a project. What OpenSUSE is doing is really not smart on many levels. Lets hope it is not a precedent.

@cassidy It's kind of like voting - don't vote, can't complain about pavements and street lighting. Providing telemetry and accepting it will be aggregated with others is the easiest (and nicest) way you can help influence an open source project. Even if you do not like a future change, your telemetry has been part of the decision. Which is a bit awesome really.

Assuming good intent and that @jack@mastodon.sdf.org is having some technical difficulties, but I hope that they can appreciate that the API they are looking at is a trial feature available by default in Nightly builds.

The only "AI" based feature in Firefox for Android that I am aware of is Firefox Translation, and that can easily be turned off and any local models deleted from the settings menu.

There is no need to go into about:config for any of that.

@AlienJay@burningboard.net Thank you. I appreciate that people have different opinions, but what has kept Europe largely peaceful for many years are people discussing issues in meeting rooms, and now we are not in the room. The apology is more an acknowledgement of the bad things done over many years to many people globally by decisions taken on this island, the impact we live with today.

@dajb I think there broadly has been a bit too much negativity in tech and possibly not enough life. There is no perfect tech ecosystem so maybe the best result is the one that works best for each person and their own use cases. Yes, I prefer open source, but it is not perfect and neither are the alternatives. But they all have features that enrich our lives and are built by people that want to make good products. I like the mix of solutions you have. Kind of a happy balance with purpose.

@dajb Thank you for sharing. While there are solutions there I would probably not make myself for costs reasons or that my use case is different, I see no reason to be critical of your choices. Increasingly, while I do have my own preferences, I am more chilled out and take a "live and let live" approach. Too much unhappiness in the world to get too stressed about the magic of sand and lightning. (I cannot afford Apple products, but I will still watch WWDC for the innovation and ideas.)

@tomrittervg@infosec.exchange I admit that I am biased in respect of Mozilla software, but across all different open source platforms I use, I recognise that providing anonymous usage data that helps improve the product and drive any project fotwards is a small effort considering how little I have paid for the software to start with.

Working on themes for Firefox can sometimes be really hard (the creative part).

I have a great idea for two themes - the "night" theme looks okay, but I think that the "day" theme will need to be picked up another day.
