New blog post: "I'm a professional streamer". An exciting new development in non-corpo livestreaming: Owncast is getting plugins! I've put two new tools on my Codeberg, both to do with Ghost (like Patreon but cooler) livestream integrations. https://meljoann.com/posts/stream-tools/ One's an Owncast plugin! One is a janky overlay bot, but I'm proud of meself. #livestream #owncast #ghost

Wouldn’t it be funny if there was an evolutionary reason for beats-based music + dancing in human culture… Something like: percussive, transient sounds in nature usually mean: “Danger! Something has fallen! Quick, move your body!” So dance clubs are like auditory-neuro-bio-hacking in a way

Oh I found it again! Audio recordings of Japanese train journeys. Very soothing.

@unsafelyhotboots@sharkey.world oh wow, not sure if bitrate is exposed to the plugins system… there is a matrix chat room here if you wanna ask! https://matrix.to/#/#owncast.support:matrix.org I know you can make Owncast streams private though, so it could be a good candidate for dedicated subscriber-only server

You're invited to talk on Matrix

Listening party for my album “Status” is starting soon on https://tv.theindiebeat.fm/ !

Thanks @nham for organising this. I think it’s almost an anniversary too, or something…. I am bad at promo

But if you like #electronicMusic and #RAndB and #pop and #experimentalMusic (who doesn’t), you might like this album

Replying to

@unsafelyhotboots@sharkey.world hm, I reckon if you’re hosting Owncast you might as well host Ghost too? Both are quick to do in Docker. DMCA: none of that to deal with at all. It just doesn’t come up, even for the DJ streams I know of. I guess someone would have to go to the trouble of reporting a VOD? Unlike something like Twitch, where some of my 100% live improvised audio was muted the other day for a false-positive Content ID match 😂

What are the options for MacOS audio loopback these days?

Last time I was on one, aeons ago, I thought there was some native solution with CoreAudio or something…

This is for live-streaming purposes. What do yous recommend, Masto buddies?

Does anyone know of a #Lemmy client that separates into topics like #PieFed does?

Or do I need a PieFed account to use their lovely web client? I already have two Lemmy accounts lolz

@yonder dunno if it’s the he same thing: but before I wore glasses all the time, as a kid I used to pull back at the corners of my eyes, so my eyelids were taut. That sharpens my vision too, so I can read things far away. Still blurry, but in a “sharper” way

Replying to

@n3wjack @yonder I think it’s something to do with the shape of the eyeball? Like astigmatism it’s kinda rugby ball instead of soccer ball. So maybe squinting, eyelid tautening, or temple-pressing squishes it to a different shape. Also squinting doesn’t work for me! God I’m thinking way too much about eyeballs now eeeek

@alan are you running Owncast as well? Just wondering how we could possibly share the load (a few more of us have servers too!) … do you mean to redirect some viewers to different sites, and all ingest the same RTMP stream? There might be a way to merge chats in the future as well… Tagging our admin: @limebar

@gabek @ddlyh yayy! Yeah, re: the chat window. My “fruity” message is just normal HTML in between the two iframes (video + chat) — I didn’t tweak anything in the iframe itself, and the Owncast server is just at defaults It seems to be back now, anyway? Fingers crossed the mention of fruit didn’t shock the chat window into retreat 🤞🏻🍒

@clickhere@mastodon.ie aw no worries Joan! There’ll definitely be more events, and the launch vid will go up online too I’m sure. We were stunned by the response! The vibes were so nice. There’s basically nowhere for music vids to go these days, so I think we are all feeling this is sorely needed ✨
