RE: https://attksthdrknss.website/2026/03/28/instrumental-music-can-be-about-something/

Writing this made me nostalgic for all of the time I spent listening to albums as a kid while reading the liner notes. I love liner notes. If you make music and release it with liner notes I will always read them.

Instrumental music can be about something

The meaning of a piece of music is something lots of people enjoy discussing and/or debating. As humans I think we all naturally search for meaning in things and creative works are no different. It…

I was excited to see the announcement of a new Fire-Toolz record. I always enjoy their stuff. It was also especially exciting to see they have signed to Warp Records to put it out. They are such a rad artist and they really deserve to have a bigger label putting their music out in front of more people.

Set up my little boombox on my desk now that I have room for it. This will help make it much easier to listen to my cassettes and CDs and I’m very happy about it.
My first tape I’m listening to is ultra violet heart machine by Mt Fog. Opening it up I found a Bandcamp code for it which I don’t need since I bought it through Bandcamp.
Let me know if you want the code to add it to your collection and I will give it to the first person to reply.

Currently listening to corridor by @c_reider@sonomu.club. I got it a few days ago after they graciously gave out codes for it. Now that I’m back from a trip I’m checking it out and it’s beautiful stuff. Gorgeous swells and layers of sounds that are both distorted and beautiful.

@keefmarshall@mastodon.online Great read! Thanks for sharing the journey of finding and sharing those songs. They turned out sounding pretty good considering everything you had to do to save them.

@meljoann@topspicy.social @evemassacre@mastodon.social Well, they’re still good for listening with, but you don’t have to worry about mixing them up now. Or maybe melt them down into jewelry?

@evemassacre@mastodon.social @meljoann@topspicy.social I’m honestly not surprised. Even without my hearing issues I doubt I could pick those out from each other. This validates my thoughts on not spending a ton of money on a fancy listening setup a little. Haha.

@mcc@mastodon.social I have done this forever now where I position my mouse in a spot where I can scroll as long as possible without triggering the autoplay. It is so frustrating to have videos just start that I haven’t told YouTube that I am thalli want to watch it. It’s right up there with how on Apple TV Netflix will autoplay the trailer of something as you move the cursor and to make it worse it has sound. I find myself constantly swiping to keep the cursor moving to keep this from happening.

@jenni@mastodon.social That looks awesome. I especially love the ability to just scroll around in all directions and find stuff to check out. This would be really useful for making a collage style piece for album artwork. I will have to remember this.
