Aha - old Pixel device, converted to GrapheneOS. Obtainium and Auxio (FOSS music player) added. No SIM and WiFI turned off, so just Bluetooth to attach to speakers or headphones.
I'm increasingly finding I'm dumbing down more and more devices to get the most out of them.

If anyone is using the dark arts here, it's the US and their rhetoric.
They realise their AI bubble might burst due to China insisting that their AI models are FOSS. They're probably better engineered too compared to the US 'chuck lots of money at it' approach.
As you know I am no fan of Gen AI, but China might just be playing a blinder here by undercutting, and maybe collapsing, the buttress holding up the entire US economy.

The next task in my list to divorce from big tech is replacing the Blink cameras around our house. Any advice?
Is there a decent UK/EU privacy-based alternative?
Or can I use FOSS with compatible hardware? I already have a home server on all the time running Jellyfin, so that could be utilised for this.

Just did my first Wikipedia (English) edit. I've been meaning to do one of these for years but never get around to it.
Today, I discovered that Betty Swanwick didn't have an exact date of death on there. But I found it whilst looking at her profile on the Royal Academy Collection.
Interesting fact: one of those people, like Shakespeare, who suffered the extreme 'Birthday Effect' (i.e. died on their actual birthday).
I find it incredible that the Proton Mail android app - from @protonprivacy@mastodon.social who want you to detach yourself from big tech - still uses Google Services.
Admittedly just for notification pushes, but still.
How difficult can it be to drop that dependency and check the server for new email at a frequency of the user's choosing?

For my sins, I still have a Microsoft Surface (Win 11, local account, mostly offline) to rip Blu-rays. And - jeez - it's so slow compared to five years ago when it was my main computer.
I daily drive Linux Mint now but I'm so sorry for the rest of you on Windows 11. It just sucks. *
(* -- except it does rip Blu-rays using MakeMKV without issues, unlike my two other Linux Mint machines.)

Cleared out Dad's clothes from his house - some to the charity shop and some to the bin. He still had T-shirts I remember him wearing in the 1990s!
Then to kick off the Grant of Probate process at the Solicitor's.
Finished off with confirming the details of Dad's wake at the hosting pub. It would have been rude not to have a beer there.
Day off work? Yes. Restful? No. (Apart from the beer.)

Just bought the latest album from Angine De Poitrine. Oh yes - it's hectic, fun and - sometimes - funky.
Would love to have bought it on vinyl, but their albums are not available in the UK until late June.

So - ordered a birth certificate for Dad about two months ago from UK Gov site, to apply for his Blue Badge (since his driving licence and passport were out of date).
Not only has it just arrived today (two weeks after Dad died), but I've also found two original birth certificates of Dad's in his stuff.
This sort of thing (stuff arriving too late and wasn't needed anyway) seems to be happening quite a lot at the moment.

Day at Twicker's first Women's Six Nations of 2026. Had to leave early due to my daughter being unwell (she's doing ok back at home).
