Does anyone in NZ have a homebrewed Wii or Gamecube and would be willing to help me with something? I have an old GC memory card that may or may not have save data from the Sonic Adventure 2 Chao Garden of a Chao I raised with my childhood friend Owen, who died in 2017. I'd really like to safely pull this data out for use on PC, but I don't have a working console that can do so. I know hacked Wiis can run GCMM to copy memory cards to an SD where it could then be emailed to me. I'm in Wellington but if you aren't local I can post you the card as long as you promise to be very careful with it.

i'd rather eat rocks but thanks

bold of the parasite class to start cutting off circuses at the same time other members of the parasite class have made it so most of the bread is inedible

@alreadydeadxd@infosec.exchange it was extra funny for me because i was always like "wow i'm not really into guys but you seem special" surprise! i'm still not really into guys!

@alreadydeadxd@infosec.exchange every lanky autistic twink i pulled by being femcel-adjacent* became a woman in RECORD time, which i see as a bonus but they should probably mention as a potential hazard *i would never in a thousand years describe myself as a femcel but anthropologists will argue about whether i was in the future

@LoganFive@beige.party My mom once recommended I try smoking for weight loss. Not necessarily tobacco, I could also consider trying smoking meth!

@zzt sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring

hey Fedi, any recommendations for an easy-to-use and ethical-ish framework for surveys/questionnaires? i'm hoping to avoid using Google Forms while also not cursing myself to an endless tinker hole; it would be preferable for it to not be wildly expensive and to be privacy-preserving for the respondents as much as possible :)

i can still sweet talk my way to $4 coffees in most cafes but no force on god's green earth could get me an affordable empanada. and the $2 tamales from my youth? unthinkable

@Ladies_In_Waiting@beige.party @LoganFive@beige.party 🤝 counselor and mom are the two most dire options possible for this one, how ghastly

@briankrebs it's really sad. I've long been fascinated by the "gangstalking/targeted individual" communities (which, in the kindest way possible, are 100% people with schizophrenia and adjacent medical conditions) and I've always had hope that even in settings where they're validating each other's paranoia, the community still offers a way out eventually. LLMs do not, they just offer an eternal spiral deeper and deeper :(

@rapsneezy2 Yeah you've got it all figured out. they value the freedom for their users to get pwned too cuz they don't update their server software even to fix huge vulnerabilities.

@LoganFive@beige.party New Zealand / Aotearoa :) I'm one of those bastards who often skips breakfast and just have a nice matcha in the morning instead. When I did partake in brekkie it was usually overnight oats. In various times of my life it might instead be a poppyseed bagel, a hard boiled egg, or (I was going through a lot at this time) a bread roll with chicken liver pâté on it.

@Sylvhem@eldritch.cafe I'm in New Zealand (disgusting shipping fees) and I'm currently trapped by a cat in my lap, but I've just brought home a bunch of my old cartridges from my childhood including a Pokemon Gold and I'm replying so I come back and potentially take you up on this later once I have an inventory of which games need it :)

@theodric holy fuck?

@saikou i went to tautology island and everyone who knew you knew you and everyone who hadn't heard of you hadn't heard of you

@triz how is it every new thing i learn about cybersmith is funnier than the last thing i learned about cybersmith

@crowk@critter.cafe for the most part in wellington coffees are starting to reach parity with starbucks prices which is really upsetting ($9 mochaccino for example) :( my trick is befriending baristas and ordering just an iced americano or a long black with ice if they don't let me do the former

@crowk@critter.cafe had a magical period of a few years where i was tight with the girls at the local Havana's and they would give me an iced americano for $2

@IceWolf@masto.brightfur.net @Ylfingr@masto.brightfur.net @crowk@critter.cafe as long as it's less than $12 for me to do so, i'm game too

@MarthaCrimson@mastodon.art Huge fan of PrintAllOverMe for clothes!

@indigoviolet I want this too, I live in a country with macrons and I can't get them in a way my brain will remember haha :(

@mei you probably gotta phrase it different but they're letting my motivation section of my masters basically be "i wish i was a dog or something irl" so i don't see why not

@plutarch@gotosocial.plutar.ch @apz@some.apz.fi @FediTips@social.growyourown.services I can't speak to their current policies but a few years ago there was an enormous attempt at getting them to take Kiwifarms seriously, which is a site for people to doxx mostly trans women and try to get them to kill themselves for laughs. They doubled down many, many times on continuing to provide them services.

@MichaelaKHulse one of my friends found it tasted almost like lard, which is quite disturbing

@peter@thepit.social look, in a normal world this would be a safe bet, but I'm almost certain Musk has a cutout of his Ani!Grok waifu that he strategically positions above some raw chicken breasts he heated up in the microwave

@root@possum.city WRONG! ALAN TURING DIED BECAUSE ELECTROPLATING GOLD SPOONS WAS COOL AS HELL AND AS A GAY MAN HE RECOGNIZED THAT!!!! but you should still be gay on the computer

@Daojoan@mastodon.social I don't have the link right now but there was a study that showed that if you try to incorrectly tune an LLM against its training data like Musk is, the LLM also starts performing worse at other factual tasks, so I'm really looking forward to grok getting wronger and wronger cuz it's still not racist enough

@alex@fedi.smith.geek.nz you're right of course, i guess i mean "recognizable-to-laypeople package manager" because the windows app store sucks so bad

@MachineLordZero@mastodon.social @mahryekuh@hachyderm.io I wonder if it does! It looks like the lace is on a mesh backing to give it stability so that will reduce it at least a bit (things can't get caught by going through the gaps in the lace, since there's no "through"). It might still be snaggy on the outside, maybe there's an added finish that could fix that.

@alex@fedi.smith.geek.nz right, i remember being surprised at some of the poorly maintained apps that make it into KDE's Discover but it's NOTHING compared to what Windows is serving up

@baralheia@dragonchat.org @gimmechocolate@bark.lgbt "The moderator action was a mistake and not reflective of the Ubuntu Diversity Policy" including all the mods agreeing with it? Ohh I want to be a fly on the wall so bad right now. I hope they're getting chewed up.

@spacefinner this is so sweet

it's really funny thinking about how helpless i feel when i'm using windows and it has no central package manager to speak of tho
