could be a fairly long shot, but why not? Fedi please boost this for reach <3 anyone in (or in touch with someone who is) in Aotearoa New Zealand, and has any old braille notetaker devices they don't want or can't use? we're particularly interested in anything from what we consider the golden age (1990s to early 2010s), especially the early Humanware Braille/VoiceNote series. but we'll happily take anything, even if it's broken. we live on very little income so we might not be able to pay you much for it, but will absolutely pay shipping and would love to talk barter of some kind. or we can work out a payment plan, up to you. we're based in the Waitaha/Canterbury region and can pick up anywhere in the Ōtautahi/Christchurch Metro, or can collect from the BLVNZ office on Bristol Street.

for next #FursuitFriday, could critters posting #fursuit pics do us a favor? if yall are already describing your images (thanks btw!) could you include in your description the type of creature(s) depicted? seeing a lot of image descriptions to the effect of "fursuit", "x in fursuit"
and while i'm sure it's not hard information to find in the poster's bio, it's even easier to find when you can already see the image! this change amounts to maybe one or two extra words in the description. please consider it, thanks <3

nice, my rental agency changed the system they use to fill out their lease renewal forms.
the form is just an image (so i can't read it) and the place where i sign is a canvas that i can't even focus with the keyboard.

@IceWolf@masto.brightfur.net @witchgirls@woof.tech Matrix may not be actively /good/ but it's still way better than Discord. at the risk of derailing the thread into one about chat platforms (plenty of those already tbqh) i'd like to mention that Matrix is not ideal for screenreader users. none of the clients are particularly accessible, which adds mental load to an already pretty intensive setup process for someone used to something like Discord. course there'll be friction on pretty much anything that isn't Discord, but i think there's an important difference between slight friction/learning curve, and actively user hostile :> i personally use Signal, Discord, and xmpp. i'm gonna get back on irc, and i'm willing to try out anything else that doesn't require a captcha to sign up, but after 3 years of trying, i'm done with Matrix

IRC has extensions, and i think they're working on sending inline images, but it's not been a priority for me to find out about. i'm old and crunchy enough that sending media in chats still feels like a nice extra, i forget instant messaging is "primitive" without it these days /lighthearted

@witchgirls@woof.tech i agree on Discord being the easiest. honestly as long as the age gating doesn't interfear it probably is the best bet if you want anything set up this decade haha you have it right on Signal; it's all right for socializing, but nothing like a Discord server or Matrix rooms. last time we tried Stoat it was a few months ago, and they used HCaptcha for signups, so no. haven't tried Fluxor, but probably will eventually anyway just to try it, so that's on the table too. can only speak for us though
