Results are looking good, but more help is needed --- As you may or may not know, I'm involved with a web-archiving effort re noblogs.org (longer story, suffice it to say: We know what we're doing & why) Right now, we need more people to help with QA (quality assurance); no technical knowledge required, only patience to click on links in an interactive archive. If you are interested, please DM me - more details via Signal or Matrix. Add. Probably best for US-based folks to steer clear

I loath every article, blog, or post, that frames what happened with #AutisticiInventati as 'they folded, they gave up, they were destroyed in a couple of days.' No matter how well-meaning, this framing strips A/I of their agency and completely ignores the enormous amount of labour and care that went into a considered wind down. They made it possible for as much stuff to be moved out of their infrastructure as possible. From my perspective: This wasn't a defeat, but a tactical withdrawal 1/2

At #FediDay, @julian@fietkau.social presents how multiple #SciOp-instances could federate via ActivityPub 💜 If you want to check it out, here is the FEP: https://fediverse.codeberg.page/fep/fep/d8c8/ Talk is being recorded, I'll share the link here asap

FEP-d8c8: BitTorrent Torrent Objects - Fediverse Enhancement Proposals

The BitTorrent protocol is a p2p protocol for distributing data described as a series of hashes and file metadata contained in .torrent files. This FEP describes a JSON-LD representation of .torrent files as an extension of an ActivityStreams Object.

Amnesty International UK caved and removed two briefings:
- “Like a Snowball: The Growth and Impact of the Gender Critical Movement in the UK” (May 2026)
- “A Growing Threat – the Anti-Rights Movement in the UK.” (July 2026)

Both contain 'gender critical' as a new category, which prompted #TERF backlash.
While both PDFs are still in Internet Archive, I love seeing a torrent at #SciOp as well (just in case)

RE: https://fedihum.org/@lavaeolus/117248029115426575 The webarchiving effort of #noblogs I'm involved in (one of many independent efforts) is nearing completion. For a couple days now, the task is quality assurance to catch potential systemic issues. (Luckily nothing like this has manifested so far) It's 48h before noblogs.org goes down and we need more eyes - no technical knowledge required, only a browser and some patience to click on links. If you are interesting in helping, please DM me - more details via Signal or Matrix #AutisticiInventati

We (@AvSchroeder@fedihum.org & I) had a lovely chat with @jorgeluis@mastodon.pub.solar about https://openscience.network It's a particular flavor of @Bonfire, aiming to meet the needs of researchers and #OpenScience - in the early stages of development. I think it's a very worthwhile project (mostly for my potential second account more focused on academia). Time permitting, I may even contribute somewhat - that's the great thing: We can shape it the way we want! If that sounds good to you, follow #OpenScienceNetwork

FIY, these two headlines have no direct link (contrary to what popular toots/boosts suggest): 1) "US government map of Africa mislabels every country at global conference" (2026-07-30) https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/us-government-map-africa-mislabels-every-country-global-conference-2026-07-30/ 2) "US government lists fictional nation Wakanda as trade partner" (2019-12-19) https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50849559 They are indirectly linked by people in the higher positions inside the US government not caring about African nations and peoples. h/t @LucasWerkmeister@wikis.world

Most importantly, the voices of trans people have been almost completely absent." [1/2]
