Hat irgendjemand aus der deutschsprachigen Wissenschaftscommunity schon persönliche Erfahrungen mit dem
Open Science Network
https://openscience.network/
gesammelt?
Es scheint eine Bonfire Instanz mit ORCID-Integration zu sein, eine Art Community Forum für Forschende im Fediverse... Wie LinkedIn aber ohne den Bullshit?
Kennt ihr das? Ich wüsste gern mehr darüber.
Boosts welcome!

@occult@vox.ominous.net thanks - it was supposed to be home in time for dinner. Could you maybe just lend it some change for the bus?

2/2 Kids LOVE to learn new words. Depending on their interestes, they start very early to name the exact car brands, and the dinosaur names or pokemon some kids can memorise (and pronounce, and accurately identify) is mind-blowing --- and nobody bats an eye when they do.
So why shouldn't the words in a German kid's book be exactly as long as the German word for a thing actually is?
We all grow with our challenges.

I am so bad with threads and where to reply ...
Anyway: @jorgeluis@mastodon.pub.solar has since reacted to my original post and kindly agreed to answer some questions on how OSN could play out in reality, what it does or could do and what is still lacking.
I am going to set up a jitsi room for that next thursday, 30.07.2026 at 4pm.
Send me a pm and I'll share the link with you if you are interested in joining us.

@fresseng@universites.social @Bonfire @UlrikeHahn@fediscience.org @lavaeolus@fedihum.org @jorgeluis@mastodon.pub.solar @pierre@universites.social @unif@universites.social I'll check my settings... Sometimes I think it would be easier to have "maybe" as a default setting -- so that I get a message "someone is trying to add you, care to join?" that I can then approve or decline.
But someone would find a way to abuse it and that is why we cannot have nice things. Sigh.

@TheoHR@troet.cafe excellent example. If you want to learn German, read a book that uses actual German words. Also, all these people arguing that this was "too specific" for a children's book:
- This is how we build vocabulary AND learn about our world. All of us, but especially kids. By using specific words for specific things. Why say "wau-wau" if you want to talk about "dogs"? How to distinguish dog breeds without naming them? Or plants? or birds? Try it - how many birds can you name? 1/1

@fresseng@universites.social @lavaeolus@fedihum.org @UlrikeHahn@fediscience.org @Bonfire yes, I do think we need a flagship instance to get it started and running. Sandboxing will not cut it.
